Reina

Reina Bot: Commands

51 commands, read from Reina Bot's own command list when this page was built.

/reina

Lists every command Reina has, by category, one short line each. Pick a category to see its commands, grouped the way this page groups them, with who can use each one.

Who can use it: Anyone, in a server or in a direct message with Reina.

Steps, options and example

Commands you cannot use are listed too, marked with who can. Only you see the reply. In a direct message with Reina it shows the member commands and says where the rest are used.

Slash command, in a server or in a direct message with Reina. Discord shows it as: See everything I can do, by category, one short line for each command

OptionWhat it isRequired
categoryOpen one category straight away (leave it out to pick from a menu)
Pick from: Security, Server design, Server tools.
No

How to

  1. In any server where Reina is, or in a direct message with Reina, type /reina and press Enter.
  2. Pick a category from the menu under the message, for example Security.
  3. Read the list. Press Back to return to the categories. A long category has Previous and Next buttons.

Example: /reina category:Security

Good to know

  • The optional category choice skips the menu and opens that category straight away.
  • The list is read from the same documentation as this page, so it always matches the commands Reina really has.

All commands

Every command in one list, by category. Pick one to jump to its card. Slash commands start with /slash and you type them in Discord's message box. Items that start with Apps are in the menu you get when you right-click a message, or press and hold it on mobile.

Security

For moderators and server owners. Discord only shows /security and /blacklist to members who have the Manage Messages permission, and every command checks its own permission when it runs, so finding one is not enough to use it. You can rename any channel, category or role Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names.

What the security commands protect

Reina Bot watches who joins your Discord server and what newcomers post. When something looks like a scam, it tells your moderators in a private channel and gives them buttons to decide: let the person in, kick, ban, or ignore.

It never decides alone for you: kicks and bans come from a moderator pressing a button, or from a raid ban that you confirm first.

  • Scores each new account and holds the suspicious ones in a Quarantine role until a moderator lets them in.
  • Holds a newcomer's first links and files for a moderator to look at, then puts them back exactly as they were.
  • Deletes known phishing links, malware links and pictures that moderators confirmed as scams.
  • Watches for hijacked accounts and for mass deleting, and can lock the whole server down during a raid.
  • Backs up your channels and roles every 6 hours and can put back what someone deleted.
  • Takes private reports from members, so nobody has to call out a scammer in public.

Setup

Run /setup to set up the whole server, security included, or /security setup for the security part alone. Then use the rest to change things. Reina needs the permissions listed on the Reina Bot page for these to work.

Read first: You can rename anything, The two scam picture lists, The permission watch, Reina asks before it touches your channels

You can rename anything

You can rename any channel, category or role that Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names. This holds for the security channels and roles and for everything /setup and /design make.

Two things to know. Reina gives the trap channel a new name every day on purpose, so do not rename that one. And /design undo puts a name or color back only if nobody has changed it since, so a name you chose yourself is left alone. A channel or role that a design made and you renamed is kept by /design undo, not deleted, and the undo preview lists what it keeps before you press Confirm.

The two scam picture lists

Reina can recognize a scam picture it has seen before, even when it has been resized or recompressed. It compares a fingerprint of the picture, never the picture itself. There are two lists, and each has its own switch in /security images.

The local list is your server's own. A picture goes on it when one of your moderators confirms it as a scam: by pressing Remove, Quarantine, Kick or Ban on the alert that showed it. After that, the same picture posted in your server is deleted and the poster is put in quarantine. This list starts on. Turn it off with /security images local:False.

The shared list is Reina's own, built from pictures that moderators in other servers confirmed and that the people who run Reina Bot looked at and approved. When a picture on it shows up in your server, Reina only alerts your moderators. It never deletes the message or holds the poster, because the match comes from outside your server. (If the poster is new and Reina holds their message for review anyway, the match is a line on that held alert instead, with Not a scam beside Approve and Remove. Pressing it reports the match and leaves the held message waiting for your Approve or Remove.) The alert shows the matching picture hidden until clicked, and has Kick, Ban, No action needed and Not a scam. If the match is wrong, press Not a scam: once a picture has two reports (each server counts once a day), the people who run Reina Bot look at it again and can take it off the list. This list starts off. Turn it on with /security images global:True.

Sending is a third switch. When it is on, the pictures your moderators confirm are also sent to the people who run Reina Bot, who look at each one before it can join the shared list. The shared list and its review never record which server sent a picture or who posted it. Your local list is separate: while it is on, it keeps its own copy of each fingerprint and who posted the picture, as it always does. With the local list off, I keep no copy of a picture I send. Sending starts off, and you can turn it on without using the shared list or the other way round. Turn it on with /security images send:True and off with /security images send:False. What is kept about a picture that was sent, and for how long, is on the Privacy page.

Login QR codes are different. A QR code that logs someone into a Discord account is always deleted, whatever these switches say.

The permission watch

Reina notices by itself when a change in Server Settings stops part of its work, and tells you in your alert channel. It never changes anything on its own: it only looks. It looks a few seconds after a change, so a burst of changes (dragging a role up the list) makes one alert, not many.

It tells you when: a permission Reina needs was turned off for its role (Manage Roles, Manage Channels, Manage Server, Manage Messages, Kick Members, Ban Members, View Audit Log, Attach Files, Manage Nicknames or Create Expressions); Reina's role is no longer above the Quarantine role, or below a moderator role on its list that can kick or ban; the Quarantine role gained a powerful permission or can see a channel other than the gate channel; or a moderator role on its list lost all of Manage Messages, Kick Members and Ban Members. For a pick-your-own roles panel (/design roles) it also tells you when a role on the panel was deleted, gained a moderation permission beyond what everyone has (each one named), became a moderator, Quarantine or bot role, or now sits above Reina's role.

Each line of the alert says what stopped working and ends with the click path that fixes it, for example Server Settings > Roles > Reina, then turn on the permission. A newer alert replaces the earlier one, which then only points to it. When everything is back as it should be, Reina marks the alert Handled: fixed.

A change to Reina's role or to the Quarantine role that breaks nothing gets one short gray line saying there is nothing to do, at most once every 10 minutes. Harmless edits to a moderator role, such as renaming it, say nothing. If Reina Bot was offline when something broke, it says so with While I was offline when it starts again.

It also watches for channels that give members powers they probably should not have: a channel that lets @everyone, or a role that is not a moderator role, do something like Manage Webhooks, Manage Messages or Mention @everyone in that one channel only. That gets a blue For your information alert, because nothing of Reina's stopped working. The alert names the channel, and /security checkup has the Channel permissions button that fixes it or tells Reina to leave it. It also tells you when a strikes step that times people out is on and Reina lacks Timeout Members.

Reina asks before it touches your channels

Reina changes the permissions of a channel that already exists only when you pick it, and never silently. There are two places it asks.

  • Read-only rules, announcements and welcome channels: in /security setup and on the Rules step of /setup, if members can post in a rules, announcements or welcome channel that was there before Reina, a menu offers Make them read-only. The default is to leave them as they are. If you pick it, members can read and react but not post, moderators and Reina can still post, and /security undo puts it back.
  • Risky permissions inside one channel: /security checkup lists them and its Channel permissions button fixes them one at a time or all at once, or tells Reina to leave one alone. A fix sets the permission back to the middle (gray) option, never to a red X, and /security undo takes it back for 7 days.

/security setup

Sets up Reina's security in one go.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina itself also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels.

Steps, options and example

Reina first lists what it will make, you press Confirm, and it makes only what is missing: #mod-alerts, a private alert channel for moderators, inside a private category called Security; the Quarantine role and the #verify gate; a trap channel that catches spam bots; the #report-scams guide; and every safe setting the check-up can change. Running it again makes nothing twice.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Set up Reina's security in one go: alert channel, #verify gate, trap channel, safe settings

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick setup from the list, then press Enter.
  2. Read the list of what Reina will make. Under it are three or four menus. The first picks the alert layout: All in one channel (the default), Organized by kind, or Organized, with a kick and ban log. The second picks the guide channels: just #report-scams (the default), all three, or None. The third picks the trap channel: make one (the default) or None. With None, Reina makes none of those channels and says how to add them later: /security reports all:True for the guides, /security trap for the trap channel.
  3. The fourth menu is one of two. If members can post in a rules, announcements or welcome channel that was there before Reina, it offers Make them read-only (the default is Leave their permissions as they are), and the list above names those channels. Otherwise it is the gate timer: whether to kick members who never answer the gate question, and after how long; the list above says what it is set to now (Never until you change it). When the read-only offer is shown, set the gate timer afterward with /security verify kick_after:.
  4. Press Confirm. Only you can press it, within 5 minutes.
  5. Reina reports each step as it goes (step 1 of 5, step 2 of 5, and so on; fewer when you picked None, one more when you picked an organized layout), then says what it made.
  6. Optional: type /security mods and pick your moderator role so those members can press Reina's buttons.

Example: /security setup

Good to know

  • This is the security part alone. To set up channels, roles, a theme and rules as well, run /setup: it includes this step.
  • Reina changes nothing on your channels unless you pick it. Leaving the fourth menu alone keeps every permission on your rules, announcements and welcome channels as it is. If you pick Make them read-only, members can read and react but not post, moderators and Reina can still post, and /security undo puts it back.
  • Changed your mind within 7 days? /security undo puts the safety settings back, and /security undo everything:True also deletes the channels and role that setup made. It lists them and asks first.
  • You can rename any channel or role setup made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names. The trap channel is the one exception to leave alone: Reina gives it a new name every day on purpose.
  • The trap channel stays outside Reina's categories on purpose, because it has to look like a normal chat channel to a spam bot.
  • The alert channels are private: only moderators and staff roles can see them.
  • If an alert channel you already have can be read by people who are not moderators, the list says so and names everyone who would lose access. Confirm makes it private: hidden from everyone else, open to your moderator roles (Manage Messages, Kick Members, Ban Members or Manage Server, or added with /security mods) and Reina. A bot's own role keeps its setting, and a role you shut out there stays shut out. /security undo puts back the permissions it changed.
  • If one step fails, Reina says so and carries on with the next one.

/security alerts

Chooses where Reina posts alerts and the weekly check-up. Give a channel to send everything to that one channel, or pick a layout.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

All in one channel sends every alert to one channel. Organized by kind makes a private category called Security with #mod-joins, #mod-held and #mod-reports, and moves the alert channel into it for the server's own alerts; Organized, with a kick and ban log also makes #mod-log. An organized layout shows a preview and a Confirm button first.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Choose where Reina posts security alerts: one channel, or a channel for each kind

OptionWhat it isRequired
channelThe channel for alerts and the weekly check-up (for the one-channel layout)No
layoutOne channel, or a private Security category with a channel for each kind of alert
Pick from: All in one channel, Organized by kind, Organized, with a kick and ban log.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick alerts, then press Enter.
  2. Either fill in channel to send everything to one existing channel, or pick a layout, or both.
  3. For an organized layout, read the preview and press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  4. Going back to All in one channel keeps the channels Reina made, but they get nothing new. To delete them, run /security remove and pick Organized alert channels for part. (/security undo everything:True also works within 7 days of making them.)

Example: /security alerts layout:Organized by kind

Good to know

  • If you give neither a channel nor a layout, Reina explains both ways. All in one channel with no channel given needs an alert channel to be set already.
  • Giving only a channel while an organized layout is on changes the server alerts channel; new members, held messages and reports keep going to their own channels until you pick All in one channel.
  • Reina must be able to View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the channel you pick: Edit Channel > Permissions > Reina.

/security mods

Adds a role as a moderator role for Reina's buttons, so its members can press them without holding a big Discord permission. Run it again with the same role to remove it.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Add or remove a moderator role for Reina's security buttons (run again to remove)

OptionWhat it isRequired
roleMembers with this role can press Reina's buttonsYes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick mods, then press Enter.
  2. In role pick your moderator role, then press Enter. Reina says whether it added or removed the role.

Example: /security mods role:@Moderators

Good to know

  • A moderator role lets its members press Approve, No action needed, the held-message and report buttons, Send a reminder, and use /security verdict and /security remind.
  • Kick and Ban always need the real Kick Members and Ban Members permissions. A role can never grant them through Reina.

/security settings

Shows the channels, roles and switches Reina's security uses in this server, and names the command that sets anything that is missing.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

It also shows the gate timer, how many spam filters are on with the strikes ladder, and the blacklist (how many people, what happens when one joins, whether it is shared). Only you see the reply.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Show the channels, roles and switches Reina's security uses here

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick settings, then press Enter.
  2. Read the list. A line that says something is not set ends with the command to run.

Example: /security settings

/security undo

Puts back what the last Fix it for me or /security setup changed, including channel permissions changed by the check-up's Channel permissions button (listed as Channel permissions) and rules, announcements and welcome channels made read-only at setup (listed as Read-only channels).

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. With everything:True you also need Manage Channels and Manage Roles.

Steps, options and example

A permission is put back only if nobody has changed it since. With everything:True it also deletes the channels and role that /security setup made. It lists them first, warns that a deleted channel loses its messages for good, and waits for your Confirm.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Put back the safety settings the last /security setup or Fix it for me changed

OptionWhat it isRequired
everythingTrue: also delete the channels and role /security setup made (their messages are lost)No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick undo, then press Enter. To remove what setup made as well, set everything to True.
  2. Read the list. If it names things to delete, press the red Confirm button. Only you can press it.

Example: /security undo everything:True

Good to know

  • It only works within 7 days of the change.
  • Without everything:True nothing is ever deleted.
  • To turn one part off later than 7 days, or any time, use /security remove.

/security remove

Turns one part of Reina's security off at any time: the trap channel, the guide channels, the gate and Quarantine role, or the organized alert channels.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. When it deletes something you also need Manage Channels and Manage Roles, and so does Reina.

Steps, options and example

Reina deletes a channel only if it made it and nobody has used it since. A channel you pointed Reina at is never deleted: Reina deletes the one post it pinned there, puts back the topic, slowmode, category and Quarantine permission it changed, and stops watching it. It shows a preview first, takes a backup before deleting anything, and waits for your Confirm. The alert channel is never removed.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Turn one security part off: deletes only what Reina made, sets back channels that are yours

OptionWhat it isRequired
partThe part to turn off (the alert channel stays: move it with /security alerts)
Pick from: Trap channel, Guide channels, Gate and Quarantine role, Organized alert channels.
Yes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick remove, then press Enter.
  2. In part pick Trap channel, Guide channels, Gate and Quarantine role, or Organized alert channels, then press Enter.
  3. Read the preview. It lists what Reina deletes (in red), what it sets back and leaves in place, and what it keeps because it was used or because Reina does not know whether it made it.
  4. Press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  5. To set the part up again, run the command named at the end of the reply: /security trap, /security reports, /security verify or /security alerts.

Example: /security remove part:Trap channel

Good to know

  • A channel is kept, not deleted, when someone other than Reina posted in it recently, when it holds a post whose wording you set with Apps > Edit this text, when it is an organized alert channel that holds any alert, or when a category still holds a channel that is not deleted. A role is kept when anyone has it. To delete a kept channel yourself, right-click it > Delete Channel.
  • On a trap channel you chose, the Quarantine role stays unable to see it while the gate exists, so nobody in quarantine can post there.
  • If the Quarantine role sits at or above Reina's role, Reina cannot delete it and says so. Fix: Server Settings > Roles, drag Reina above it, then run /security remove again.
  • It waits while a /setup build, a design change or a /backup restore is running. Run it again when that is done.
  • Gate and Quarantine role is refused while any member is in quarantine. Decide on them first with Approve, Kick or Ban on their alerts, or in Server Settings > Members, then run /security remove again.
  • A channel from before Reina kept track of what it made is turned off but never deleted, because Reina does not know whether it made it.
  • A channel that is also the alert channel is left alone. Pick another alert channel first with /security alerts channel:, then run /security remove again.
  • A deleted channel can come back with /backup restore (its layout and permissions, never its messages).

/security checkup

Checks this server's safety settings and lists each one as fine or needing attention, with where to fix it.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

A Fix it for me button changes the safe ones for you after you confirm. About once a week Reina also posts the check-up in the alert channel if something needs attention.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Check this server's safety settings, with a Fix it for me button

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick checkup, then press Enter.
  2. Read the list. Every line that needs attention ends with where to fix it.
  3. To let Reina change the safe settings, press Fix it for me, read the preview, and press Confirm.
  4. Changed your mind? Type /security undo within 7 days.

Example: /security checkup

Good to know

  • It also checks that only moderators can read your alert channels. If anyone else can, the line names the channel and who can read it, and Fix it for me makes it private: hidden from everyone else, open to your moderator roles and Reina. If your alerts go to a channel made for everyone (the gate, the trap or a guide), it says so instead: make a channel only moderators can see, then run /security alerts channel: and pick it.
  • It also looks inside each channel for permissions that give members powers they probably should not have there: Manage Channels, Manage Roles, Manage Webhooks, Manage Messages, Manage Threads, Manage Events, Mention @everyone, and Move, Mute or Deafen Members, allowed to @everyone or to a role that is not a moderator role. If it finds any, the line names the channel and the role, and a Channel permissions button appears under the check-up. Fix it for me does not touch these.
  • Channel permissions: only you, with Manage Server, can open it. It numbers each case with the Discord click path to fix it by hand. Pick cases in the menu, then press Fix the picked ones, or Fix all. A fix sets the permission back to the middle (gray) option, so the role has only what it has everywhere else, and /security undo takes it back for 7 days. Leave the picked ones tells Reina to stop naming them, in the check-up and in the permission watch, unless that role gains more powers there, and the permission watch alert then says it was left as it is. Reina needs Manage Roles, and to see the channel: Server Settings > Roles > Reina, and Edit Channel > Permissions > Reina. Discord only lets Reina change permissions it has itself, so a case such as Mention @everyone or Manage Webhooks says so and shows only the by-hand path; Reina never gives itself a permission to get around that.

/security wordfilter

Opens an editor for what Discord's own AutoMod blocks in this server. AutoMod blocks a message before anyone sees it, even while Reina Bot is offline.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Server.

Steps, options and example

The editor has ready-made lists (swearing, sexual content, slurs), your own words, blocked sites, a switch for invites to other servers, and the channels and roles AutoMod skips. It reads the rules from Discord every time you open it, so it always shows what is really there. Only you see it.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Edit what Discord's AutoMod blocks here: ready-made lists, your words, invites, sites

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick wordfilter, then press Enter. The command has no options: everything is in the message that opens.
  2. Ready-made lists: tick swearing, sexual content or slurs in the first menu. Untick all of them to switch the list off.
  3. Edit your words: press the button, type one word or phrase per line (up to 1000 lines of 60 characters), and press Submit. A star at the start or end matches more: *cat* also matches scatter. An empty box switches your words off.
  4. Edit blocked sites: press the button and type one site per line, like example.com. Any link to it is blocked.
  5. Block invites: press the button to switch invite links to other Discord servers on or off.
  6. Channels to skip (up to 25) and Roles to skip (up to 20): pick the places and people AutoMod leaves alone for your words and blocked links.
  7. The editor closes after 14 minutes with no press. Run /security wordfilter again to open it again.

Example: /security wordfilter

Good to know

  • Reina makes two rules of its own, Reina: your words and Reina: blocked links, and uses the one ready-made list rule, Reina: flagged words. It never deletes a rule: emptying a list switches the rule off. A switched-off rule keeps its words in Discord: the editor shows how many, says it is switched off, and fills the box with them, so the next edit starts from them and switches the rule on again. Allow lists and patterns set in Server Settings stay as they are.
  • When invites are blocked, your own server's invite links are blocked too, except the vanity link. Let moderators post invites by adding their role under Roles to skip.
  • Discord allows 6 word rules in a server. If yours has them all, Reina says so and you delete one you no longer use: Server Settings > Safety Setup > AutoMod.
  • If a rule Reina made is deleted in Server Settings, the editor says so when you open it and starts a new rule the next time you save.
  • There is no undo. Edit it again here, or change it in Discord: Server Settings > Safety Setup > AutoMod.
  • Reina stores only the ids of its two rules. The words themselves live in Discord.

/security strict

Strict gate. With on set to True, every newcomer answers the #verify question before they can talk, not only the suspicious ones.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

With False, only suspicious accounts are held.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Strict gate: every newcomer answers the #verify question, not only suspicious ones

OptionWhat it isRequired
onTrue: every newcomer answers the #verify question. False: only suspicious onesYes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick strict, then press Enter.
  2. Set on to True or False and press Enter.

Example: /security strict on:True

/security images

Shows and sets the three scam picture switches: the local list (pictures your moderators confirmed here), the shared list (pictures another server confirmed and the people who run Reina Bot approved) and sending your confirmed pictures for review.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

Options you leave out stay as they are. With none set, the reply only shows the three switches.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Choose which scam picture lists I use here: this server's own, the shared one, and sending to it

OptionWhat it isRequired
localTrue: delete pictures your moderators confirmed here and quarantine the poster. False: offNo
globalTrue: alert your moderators when a picture matches the shared list. False: offNo
sendTrue: send the pictures your moderators confirm for review by the people who run Reina BotNo

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick images, then press Enter.
  2. To see where you stand, press Enter with nothing set. Reina answers with the three switches, one plain sentence each.
  3. Set local, global or send to True or False and press Enter. Reina says Saved and shows the three again.
  4. Local list: True deletes pictures your moderators confirmed here as scams and puts the poster in quarantine. False stops checking.
  5. Shared list: True alerts your moderators when a picture matches one another server confirmed and the people who run Reina Bot approved. Reina never removes a message or holds anyone for it. False turns it off.
  6. Sending: True sends the pictures your moderators confirm to the people who run Reina Bot for review. The shared list and its review never record which server sent them or who posted them. While your local list is on, it keeps its own copy of each fingerprint and who posted it; with it off, Reina keeps no copy of a picture it sends. False stops sending.

Example: /security images global:True

Good to know

  • The shared list starts off, and so does sending. The local list starts on.
  • Login QR codes (the kind that log someone into a Discord account) are always checked and deleted, whatever these switches say.
  • A match on the shared list only alerts your moderators. The alert shows the matching picture hidden until clicked, and has Kick, Ban, No action needed and Not a scam. Not a scam tells the people who run Reina Bot the match is wrong; it needs the Manage Messages permission or a moderator role.
  • Reina sends only pictures a moderator confirmed as a scam. A reporter's screenshot is never sent.
  • If sending is on but the shared list is not open in your server yet, the reply says so, and nothing is sent.
  • To stop sending, run /security images send:False. What is kept about a picture that was already sent is on the Privacy page.

Alerts and moderators

Reina tells your moderators about everything in a private alert channel. These are the states an alert can be in, the buttons on it, and the commands for reading and rehearsing.

Read first: The four states of an alert, The buttons, Who can press what, One channel or several

The four states of an alert

Every alert is a message with a colored strip and a title that starts with its state. The color is never the only clue: the title says it in words too.

  • Needs a decision (amber, bell): buttons are waiting for a moderator.
  • Handled (green, check): a moderator or Reina acted. The buttons are gone and one line says what was done, by whom and when.
  • Looked at, no action needed (gray, eyes): someone pressed No action needed, or the member left before anyone acted.
  • For your information (blue, info): nothing to decide, it only tells you something happened.

The buttons

Which buttons an alert has depends on what it is about.

  • Approve (let them in): takes the Quarantine role off the member. It only appears while they are in quarantine.
  • Kick and Ban: remove the member. Reina checks that your top role is above theirs.
  • No action needed: closes only that alert, gray, with a line saying who looked at it. It changes no roles and closes no other alert.
  • On a held message: Approve puts the message back exactly as it was, and Remove keeps it gone.
  • On a report: Quarantine, Dismiss, Kick and Ban. Dismiss only stops that one report from counting.
  • Send a reminder: on an alert about a member who has waited a day at the gate, it sends them one short note.

Who can press what

Reina checks the real Discord permission each time a button is pressed. Nobody can press a button on an alert about themselves.

  • Approve: Manage Roles, or a role added with /security mods.
  • Kick: Kick Members. Ban: Ban Members. A moderator role never grants these two.
  • No action needed, held-message buttons, report buttons: Manage Messages, or a moderator role. Quarantine on a report needs Manage Roles.
  • Send a reminder and Remind them: Manage Server, or a moderator role.

One channel or several

By default every alert goes to one channel called #mod-alerts. In /security setup or /security alerts you can choose an organized layout instead: a category called Security with one channel per kind of alert, so a busy server does not bury the important ones.

Reina never puts its own name on a category or channel it makes. Rename them if you like; Reina finds them by id.

  • #mod-alerts: things about the server itself, such as lockdowns, anti-nuke, backups, linking servers, a dry run switched on or off, and the weekly check-up.
  • #mod-joins: new members, people who came back, raids, people waiting at the gate, members kicked by the gate timer, blacklisted people who joined, vouches, members who were banned in a linked server, repeated posts in guide channels, and members who deleted their records while in quarantine.
  • #mod-held: held messages, removed messages, suspicious links, the trap channel, spam filter hits and strikes.
  • #mod-reports: member reports.
  • #mod-log (optional): one line each time a moderator presses Approve, Kick, Ban, Quarantine or Remove.

/security verdict

Shows Reina's read on one member: a risk level (low, medium, high or critical), why, what Reina would do, and their record in this server for the last 30 days.

Who can use it: Staff (anyone with Manage Messages, Kick Members or Ban Members) and members of a moderator role.

Steps, options and example

It is a level, never a percentage, and the moderators decide. Only you see the reply.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Show Reina's read on one member: risk level and what to do

OptionWhat it isRequired
userThe member to look atYes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick verdict, then press Enter.
  2. In user pick the member, then press Enter.

Example: /security verdict user:@NewAccount

Good to know

  • If the member was banned in a linked server, the reply says so as a fact. It never changes the risk level.
  • If the member is on this server's blacklist, the reply says so, with the reason and the date.

Apps > Send picture to Reina

Sends the scam pictures in one message for review by the people who run Reina Bot. If they approve one, its fingerprint joins Reina's shared scam list.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Messages permission or a moderator role, in a server where sending is on (/security images send:True).

Steps, options and example

With this server's own list on, the pictures also join it at once. Only you see Reina's reply.

Message menu, in a server.

How to

  1. Right-click the message that has the scam picture (press and hold on mobile).
  2. Pick Apps, then Send picture to Reina.
  3. Reina says how many pictures went for review and how many were already waiting or already on the shared list.

Example: Right-click a message > Apps > Send picture to Reina

Good to know

  • Only the pictures go. The shared list and its review never record which server sent them or who posted them. With your local list on, the pictures also join it, and it keeps who posted them, as it always does.
  • If sending is off, Reina says so. A server manager turns it on with /security images send:True.
  • A server can send up to 10 pictures an hour. A forwarded message is refused: right-click the original message instead.
  • On one of Reina's own alerts, press Remove, Kick, Ban or Quarantine instead: with sending on, Reina sends the pictures that alert confirmed, never a reporter's screenshot.

/security dryrun

Dry run. Reina still posts every alert, but holds, deletes, pauses, locks and contains nothing on its own. Each alert says what Reina would have done.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

Buttons and commands still work. Good for the first week.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Dry run: Reina alerts, but holds, deletes, pauses and locks nothing on its own

OptionWhat it isRequired
onTrue: alert only, act on nothing. False: act as usualYes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick dryrun, then press Enter.
  2. Set on to True to start a dry run, or False to stop it. The alert channel is told either way.

Example: /security dryrun on:True

Good to know

  • A dry run never stops the deletion of posts in guide channels.

The gate

The gate is a question that a held newcomer answers in a channel called #verify before they can talk.

Read first: How the gate works

How the gate works

Each new account gets a score from signs like a very new account, no profile picture, a name that copies a moderator's, or a profile picture that matches a known scam. A score of 10 or more sends moderators an alert. A score of 20 or more also gives the member the Quarantine role. A score of 40 or more is marked high, and answering the question is not enough: a moderator must press Approve.

A held member sees only #verify. They press Answer, type the answer, and the role comes off. With /security strict on, every newcomer answers, not only suspicious ones.

Reina never sends a newcomer a direct message on its own, because a message from a bot is a fast way to make someone leave. After a member has waited a day, moderators get an alert with a Send a reminder button. At most once a day, if members are still waiting and none of them has been reminded in the last 24 hours, Reina also posts one note in the join alerts with a Remind them button that sends the same note to all of them. A moderator has to press it: Reina never sends the reminders on its own.

Reina kicks no one for waiting unless the server turned the gate timer on with /security verify kick_after:. Then, and only then, a member who has not answered within the days you picked is kicked, but only if answering would have let them in. A high-score join, someone held by the blacklist or by strikes, staff, the owner and anyone at or above Reina's role are never kicked this way, nothing is kicked during a lockdown, and a dry run only says who would be kicked. Kicked members can join again and are judged fresh.

/security verify

Creates the Quarantine role and the #verify channel, and sets the question newcomers answer. Run it again to change the question.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels.

Steps, options and example

/security setup already does the first part with a default question. The optional kick_after setting is the gate timer: whether Reina kicks members who never answer, and after how long.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Create the Quarantine role and the #verify gate, and set the question newcomers answer

OptionWhat it isRequired
questionShown in #verify; newcomers answer it to get in. Leave out to change only kick_after
1 to 300 characters.
No
answerThe right answer (case, spaces and lookalike letters are ignored); fill in with question
1 to 100 characters.
No
channelA channel you already have, to use as the gate (who can see it stays as is)No
kick_afterKick members who never answer the question after this long (Never: a moderator decides)
Pick from: Never (they wait for a moderator), After 1 day, After 3 days, After 7 days, After 14 days, After 30 days.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick verify, then press Enter.
  2. In question type what held newcomers see, and in answer type the right answer. Capital letters, spaces and lookalike letters are ignored.
  3. To use a channel you already have as the gate instead of making #verify, also fill in channel. Reina pins the question there and leaves who can see it as you set it.
  4. Optional: in kick_after pick Never (the default, they wait for a moderator), or After 1, 3, 7, 14 or 30 days. Leave it out to keep the timer as it is. /security settings shows it.
  5. To change only the gate timer once the gate is set up, fill in kick_after alone: /security verify kick_after:After 7 days. Reina saves the timer and changes nothing else: the question, the answer and the pinned post stay as they are.
  6. Drag the Reina role above the Quarantine role: Server Settings > Roles.

Example: /security verify question:What is 7 plus 3? Type the number. answer:10 kick_after:After 7 days

Good to know

  • The gate timer kicks only a member whose own answer would have let them in, once the days you picked have passed since they were held. It never kicks a high-score join or anyone held by the blacklist or by strikes (those wait for a moderator), staff, the server owner, or anyone at or above Reina's role. It does nothing during a lockdown or while the server has no gate channel (nobody could answer then), and in a dry run it only says who it would kick. Time Reina Bot was offline counts toward the days.
  • Reina kicks at most 20 members at a time and looks at each one again right before the kick, so a member a moderator approved, or who answered, in the meantime stays. It posts one alert in the join alerts naming them, and once a kick worked it closes their own alerts with a line saying why. The kicked members can join again and are judged fresh. Reina needs Kick Members: Server Settings > Roles > Reina. When you save a timer without it, the reply says so with that click path. If it is missing, or Discord refuses anyway (Reina's role below theirs, or a server that asks moderators for 2FA when the bot's owner has none), the alert says what to do and Reina tries again the next day.
  • Turn it off with kick_after:Never. Reina kicks no one for waiting unless you turned this on.
  • Running it with question and answer posts and pins the question again, so fill them in only to change them. Without a gate yet, kick_after alone is refused with the command that sets the gate up first.
  • To turn the gate off later, run /security remove and pick Gate and Quarantine role for part. It is refused while anyone is in quarantine.
  • Reina never uses a channel that already has a job (an alert, trap or guide channel) or one Discord itself uses (system messages, rules or community updates) as the gate.

/security trap

Creates a trap channel that catches spam bots, or refreshes its warning and topic if it exists. It looks like an ordinary chat channel.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Channels.

Steps, options and example

Its pinned message and topic start with DO NOT POST IN THIS CHANNEL. A bot that posts there has the message deleted and is held.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Create a trap channel: spam bots that post in it are quarantined

OptionWhat it isRequired
channelA channel you already have, to use as the trap (I never rename it)No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick trap, then press Enter.
  2. Reina says where the channel is. Leave it where it is: moving it into a category with a guide or alert channels would make it look different.
  3. To use a channel you already have instead of a new one, fill in channel. Everyone must be able to see it (Edit Channel > Permissions > @everyone > View Channel on), it must not be in the Security or Guides category, and nobody but Reina may have posted in it (the trap deletes every post there, so make a new empty channel: right-click a category > Create Channel). Reina sets its topic, pins the warning, and never renames it.

Example: /security trap

Good to know

  • To turn the trap off later, run /security remove and pick Trap channel for part. A channel Reina made is deleted unless it was used since; a channel you chose is left in place with its topic put back.

/security remind

Shows how many members are still waiting at the gate.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission, or a moderator role.

Steps, options and example

When you press Confirm, Reina sends each of them one short direct message saying where to go and what to press, and tells you how many it reached. It skips anyone reminded in the last 24 hours. Never automatic.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: DM the members still waiting at the gate a reminder to answer the question (asks you first)

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick remind, then press Enter.
  2. Read how many members are waiting.
  3. Press Confirm to send the reminders.

Example: /security remind

Good to know

  • Running it again reaches the rest, because each run cuts at 100 members.
  • A reminder never kicks anyone. Kicking members who never answer is a separate setting, off unless you turn it on: /security verify kick_after:.

/security forget

Deletes what Reina logged about one user in this server, including their role list and their own channel permissions in every kept backup.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

Shared ban notes about them that this server made are removed too, and so is any blacklist entry about them in this server.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Delete what Reina logged about one user in this server

OptionWhat it isRequired
userThe user, or their idYes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick forget, then press Enter.
  2. In user pick the person, or paste their user id if they have left.
  3. Reina says how many records it deleted.

Example: /security forget user:@SomeoneWhoLeft

Good to know

  • It does not undo a ban, a kick or a role.

Raids and lockdown

A raid is many accounts joining at once to spam or scam. These commands slow a server down and remove the accounts afterwards.

Read first: What counts as a raid

What counts as a raid

When more than 40 joins land within a minute, Reina pauses invites and direct messages, re-judges the recent joins and posts an alert with a Lift pause button. Unless it is switched off, it also locks the server down for 30 minutes.

/security lockdown

Locks the server down: slowmode of 30 seconds on every text channel except #verify, the trap and the staff channels, the verification level raised to High, direct messages and invites paused, and every link from anyone who is not staff checked and held.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Lock the server down: slowmode, verification High, DMs and invites paused

OptionWhat it isRequired
minutesHow long, 5 to 1440 minutes (60 if left out)
From 5 to 1440.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick lockdown, then press Enter.
  2. Optional: in minutes type how long, from 5 to 1440. Leave it out for 60.
  3. To end it early, type /security unlock or press the Unlock button on the alert.

Example: /security lockdown minutes:30

/security unlock

Ends the lockdown and puts back only what still looks the way Reina left it. The timer and the Unlock button on the alert do the same.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: End the lockdown and put back what Reina changed

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick unlock, then press Enter.

Example: /security unlock

/security raidban

Bans recent joins whose score is high enough, after a preview and your Confirm. It never includes staff, old unscored accounts or anyone a moderator already let in.

Who can use it: Members with the Ban Members permission. Only the person who ran the command can press its Confirm.

Steps, options and example

A confirmed raid ban is also shared with linked servers.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Ban recent high-scoring joins, after a preview and your Confirm

OptionWhat it isRequired
min_scoreLowest join score to include
From 10 to 1000.
Yes
lookback_minutesHow far back to look, 30 to 1440 minutes
From 30 to 1440.
Yes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick raidban, then press Enter.
  2. In min_score type the lowest join score to include (10 to 1000), and in lookback_minutes how far back to look (30 to 1440).
  3. Read the list of accounts, then press Confirm. Only you can press it.

Example: /security raidban min_score:40 lookback_minutes:60

Anti-nuke

Protection against a hijacked or rogue moderator account deleting your server. To put back what was deleted, use /backup restore (Server tools).

Read first: The anti-nuke watcher

The anti-nuke watcher

Reina reads the server's audit log (it needs the View Audit Log permission). Deleting channels or roles, banning, kicking, adding bots, making webhooks, handing out dangerous permissions and changing the server's name, icon or invite link add points to the person who did it. At 6 points in 10 seconds moderators get an alert. At 12 points Reina contains the person: it takes their roles that sit below its own and pauses invites, and the alert has a Restore button.

Reina never touches the server owner, itself, or anyone the owner trusted with /security trust.

/security trust

Trusts a bot or a person so the anti-nuke watcher never contains them. Use it for another moderation bot such as Dyno or Carl.

Who can use it: The server owner only. A hijacked admin account must not be able to switch the watcher off for itself.

Steps, options and example

Run it again with the same bot to remove the trust. Every change is posted to the moderators.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Owner only: trust a bot (or person) the anti-nuke watcher never contains (run again to remove)

OptionWhat it isRequired
botThe bot (or person) to trustYes

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick trust, then press Enter.
  2. In bot pick the bot or person, then press Enter.

Example: /security trust bot:@OtherModBot

Reports

How members tell moderators about a scammer, and the guide channels that explain it.

Read first: What happens to a report, Guide channels

What happens to a report

Each report becomes an alert for the moderators with the evidence and the buttons Quarantine, Dismiss, Kick and Ban. Reports from trusted members count toward quarantine: when 2 trusted members report the same person within 7 days, Reina quarantines them. Counting starts over whenever a moderator lets the person in.

Dismiss on a report stops it counting and blocks the same reporter from reporting that member again for 7 days. Only the pictures the reported member posted can become known scam pictures, and only after a moderator presses Quarantine, Kick or Ban. The reporter's own screenshot is shown but never kept.

Guide channels

Guide channels are read-only channels with one pinned message each, in a category called Guides: #report-scams (how to report), and, if you pick them, #if-you-were-scammed and #new-here. Members cannot post there, so each pin starts with a plain bold title.

Reina deletes anything anyone else posts there, moderators and bots included, and says so in a short notice that disappears after 20 seconds. Only Reina's own pinned guide stays. Each guide channel has the longest slowmode Discord allows, 6 hours. If the same member's posts are deleted 3 times within 24 hours, the moderators get one alert in the join alerts, with the member buttons and No action needed, at most once per member per channel per day. If Reina cannot delete a post, it tells the moderators once per channel and says to give it Manage Messages there: Edit Channel > Permissions > Reina.

/security reports

Creates the read-only #report-scams guide channel that shows members how to report, or refreshes its pinned steps.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Channels.

Steps, options and example

With all set to True it also makes #if-you-were-scammed and #new-here. All guide channels sit in a category called Guides, with the longest slowmode Discord allows (6 hours).

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Create or refresh the read-only #report-scams guide channel (and, if you ask, two more guides)

OptionWhat it isRequired
allTrue: also make #if-you-were-scammed and #new-here (read-only guides)No
channelA read-only channel you already have, to use as the report guideNo

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick reports, then press Enter. Set all to True for all three guide channels.
  2. Reina says which channels it made or refreshed. Everyone can read them and nobody but Reina can post.
  3. To use a channel you already have as the report guide, make it read-only first (Edit Channel > Permissions > @everyone > Send Messages off), then fill in channel. Nobody but Reina may have posted in it, because a guide deletes every other post.

Example: /security reports all:True

Good to know

  • To take the guides away later, run /security remove and pick Guide channels for part.
  • Guide channels that already exist are refreshed either way: their pinned guide, slowmode and place under Guides. An older #report-scams outside every category is moved under Guides.

Linked servers

Two servers owned by people who trust each other can tell each other when someone is banned. Off until both owners agree.

/security share

Links this server with one other server so each sees the other's bans when that person joins.

Who can use it: The server owner makes a code and enters a code. The owner or anyone with Manage Server can list and unlink. Only the owner can answer a link request.

Steps, options and example

What leaves a server: only when a moderator bans someone with Reina's Ban button or a confirmed raid ban, the person's user id, that they were banned, one reason word, and when. What comes in: nothing until that person joins, then one alert for the moderators that says where and when, as a fact and never a score. Bans made any other way are never shared.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Owner only: link with another server so each sees the other's bans when that person joins

OptionWhat it isRequired
actionWhat to do
Pick from: Make a pairing code, Enter a code, List linked servers, Unlink a server.
Yes
codeThe pairing code the other server's owner gave you (for Enter a code)No

How to

  1. Owner of server A: type /security and pick share, set action to Make a pairing code, and press Enter. The code works once, for 30 minutes.
  2. Send the code to the owner of server B. They type /security share in their server, set action to Enter a code, paste the code, and press Enter.
  3. They see both server names and press Confirm. Reina sends a direct message to the owner of server A with Approve and Decline.
  4. The owner of server A presses Approve. If the message did not arrive, type /security share with action List linked servers and answer there.
  5. To stop sharing, either owner or anyone with Manage Server picks action Unlink a server and chooses the server.

Example: /security share action:Make a pairing code

Good to know

  • A server can link with up to 10 others by default. Linking never imports older bans.
  • A shared ban note is removed after 90 days, when that server unbans the person, when either side unlinks, and when the person uses /privacy.
  • Deleting a note never undoes a ban. To appeal, the person asks that server's moderators.
  • A link is also what lets two servers share their blacklists, but that stays off until the owner of each server turns it on: /blacklist shared.

Blacklist

People your server does not want, dealt with the moment they join. A moderator adds them by hand; linked servers can share their lists if both owners agree.

Read first: A blacklist is not a ban list

A blacklist is not a ban list

A ban stops one person right now. The blacklist is a list of people your moderators decided in advance they do not want, and it acts when they try to join. Add someone before they ever arrive, for example a person who harassed your community on another account, or a user id a friend sent you.

What happens on their join is one setting for the whole server, chosen with /blacklist settings. Keep out kicks them, and they are kicked again if they come back. Quarantine, the default, gives them the Quarantine role, and only a moderator pressing Approve lets them in: answering the gate question does not. Ban bans them. If Discord refuses the kick or the ban, Reina puts them in quarantine instead when it has Manage Roles, and again only a moderator lets them in. In a dry run Reina only says what it would do.

A blacklist entry changes nothing for a member who is already in the server: moderators have Kick and Ban for that. It never touches staff, the server owner or anyone at or above Reina's role. Entries end by themselves, after 180 days unless you change it (30 to 730 days). Reina never sends anyone a direct message about the blacklist.

Servers linked with /security share can share their blacklists, but only if both owners agree: the owner turns it on with /blacklist shared, and each server picks whether the other's entries are a note for its moderators or work like its own.

/blacklist add

Puts someone on this server's blacklist.

Who can use it: The permission the server's blacklist action needs: Kick Members when the action is Keep out, Ban Members when it is Ban, Manage Roles (or a moderator role from /security mods) when it is Quarantine, which is the default. Reina needs the same permission.

Steps, options and example

Pick them in user, or paste their user id in user_id if they are not in the server (they can be on the list before they ever join). Add a short reason in reason, up to 100 characters, if you like. From then on, the moment they join, Reina does what the server's blacklist action says: keeps them out, puts them in quarantine or bans them. Only you see the reply.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Put someone on the blacklist (they can be on it before they ever join)

OptionWhat it isRequired
userThe person; leave it empty and use user_id for someone who is not in the serverNo
user_idTheir user id, for someone not in the server (Developer Mode > right-click > Copy User ID)
17 to 20 characters.
No
reasonA short reason your moderators see (and linked servers you share the list with)
1 to 100 characters.
No

How to

  1. Optional: switch on Developer Mode (User Settings > Advanced), then right-click the person > Copy User ID.
  2. In any channel type /blacklist and pick add, then press Enter.
  3. In user pick the person, or leave user empty and paste their id in user_id.
  4. Optional: in reason type a note for your moderators, such as scam links in another server.
  5. Press Enter. Reina says what happens when they join and when the entry ends.

Example: /blacklist add user_id:123456789012345678 reason:scam links

Good to know

  • The entry acts on the next join. If the person is in the server right now, nothing happens to them: use Kick or Ban for that (right-click the member).
  • Adding someone who is already listed keeps the new reason and starts the timer again.
  • Quarantine needs the Quarantine role, and every blacklist action is said in the alert channel. If this server has neither yet, the reply says so: run /security setup first. Until then a listed person who joins is not held, and /security verdict on them notes that they joined while listed.
  • Reina refuses yourself, a bot, the server owner, anyone who is a moderator here, and anyone whose top role is at or above yours. Each refusal says what to do next.
  • An entry ends by itself after 180 days unless you change it with /blacklist settings (30 to 730 days). Take someone off sooner with /blacklist remove.
  • The reason is shown to this server's moderators and, if you share the blacklist (/blacklist shared), to the linked servers that share back. It is never written into Discord's audit log, and Reina never sends the person a direct message.

/blacklist remove

Takes someone off this server's blacklist. If they join afterward, they are treated like anyone else.

Who can use it: The same permission as /blacklist add: Kick Members, Ban Members, or Manage Roles (or a moderator role) depending on the server's blacklist action.

Steps, options and example

Removing never unbans: if they are banned, Reina says so and you unban them by hand.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Take someone off the blacklist

OptionWhat it isRequired
userThe person; leave it empty and use user_id for someone who is not in the serverNo
user_idTheir user id, for someone not in the server (Developer Mode > right-click > Copy User ID)
17 to 20 characters.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /blacklist and pick remove, then press Enter.
  2. In user pick the person, or paste their user id in user_id, then press Enter.
  3. If Reina says they are still banned, unban them: Server Settings > Bans, then Revoke Ban.

Example: /blacklist remove user_id:123456789012345678

Good to know

  • If the person is not on the list, Reina says so and points at /blacklist list.
  • If they are waiting in quarantine because of the blacklist, removing them lets the gate answer work for them again. When they answer, their blacklist alert closes as handled, unless a linked server's shared blacklist still names them.

/blacklist list

Shows this server's blacklist, newest first: who, the reason, when it was added and by whom, and when it ends.

Who can use it: Staff (anyone with Manage Messages, Kick Members or Ban Members), the server owner, and members of a moderator role.

Steps, options and example

If you share the blacklist, it also lists what linked servers share with you. Only you see the reply.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Show the blacklist, newest first, plus what linked servers share with you

How to

  1. In any channel type /blacklist and pick list, then press Enter.
  2. Read the list. A long list has Previous and Next buttons under the message, for 10 minutes. Only you can press them.

Example: /blacklist list

Good to know

  • An empty list says so and names /blacklist add.
  • Lines from linked servers show the server's name, the reason and the date. They are a note or an action depending on /blacklist shared.

/blacklist shared

Chooses whether this server's blacklist is shared with the servers linked to it, and what to do with theirs.

Who can use it: The server owner turns sharing on (Alert only or Act). Anyone with Manage Server can turn it off.

Steps, options and example

Off (the default): nothing leaves this server and nothing comes in. Alert only: a linked server's entries are a note for your moderators when that person joins, never an action. Act: a linked server's entries work here like your own. Entries flow only between servers that are linked with /security share and that both turned this on.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Share the blacklist with the servers linked to this one, or stop

OptionWhat it isRequired
modeOff; Alert only: their entries are a note; Act: their entries work like mine
Pick from: Off: nothing leaves this server and nothing comes in, Alert only: linked servers' entries are a note for my moderators, never an action, Act: linked servers' entries work like this server's own.
Yes

How to

  1. Link the two servers first, if you have not: /security share (see Linked servers).
  2. In any channel type /blacklist and pick shared, then press Enter.
  3. In mode pick Off, Alert only or Act, then press Enter. Turning it on takes the owner.
  4. Reina says what leaves this server: for each entry, the user id, the reason note, the date it was added and this server's name. Every linked server's alert channel is told when you change it.

Example: /blacklist shared mode:Alert only

Good to know

  • Only the owner can turn sharing on, because entries then leave the server. Turning it off, or down to Alert only, is safe, so Manage Server is enough.
  • With Alert only, the moderators get a note with the usual member buttons (Kick, Ban and No action needed), and the join goes on as usual.
  • Unlinking with /security share stops everything at once. Entries end by themselves, and /security forget and /privacy delete:True remove them.
  • Each server keeps its own list. Nothing a linked server shares is copied into your list.

/blacklist settings

Shows and sets what happens when a blacklisted person joins, and how long an entry lasts. Options you leave out stay as they are.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

With none set, the reply only shows the settings. The actions: Keep out (kick them; they can come back and are kicked again), Quarantine (the default: the Quarantine role, and only a moderator letting them in frees them), or Ban.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: What happens when a blacklisted person joins, and how long an entry lasts

OptionWhat it isRequired
actionKeep out (kick when they join), Quarantine (hold for a moderator), or Ban
Pick from: Keep out (kick them when they join), Quarantine (hold them for a moderator), Ban them when they join.
No
daysDays an entry lasts, 30 to 730 (180 until you set it)
From 30 to 730.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /blacklist and pick settings, then press Enter.
  2. In action pick Keep out, Quarantine or Ban. In days type how long an entry lasts, from 30 to 730 (180 until you change it).
  3. Press Enter. Reina says Saved and shows how many people are on the list, the action, the days and the sharing mode.

Example: /blacklist settings action:Ban days:365

Good to know

  • A change applies to the people already on the list too, from their next join. Days apply to entries added afterward.
  • Reina needs the permission the action uses: Kick Members, Manage Roles or Ban Members. The reply says which one is missing and where to turn it on: Server Settings > Roles > Reina. The setting is saved anyway.
  • If Reina cannot do the action when a listed person joins (a missing permission, a moderator, or someone above Reina's role), they are treated like any other newcomer: the gate still holds them when every newcomer answers it, and a suspicious account is still held. The alert says the action failed, says when they are in quarantine, and has the buttons to decide.
  • Quarantine needs the Quarantine role: /security verify makes it.
  • A dry run (/security dryrun) only says what Reina would have done when a listed person joins.

Spam filters and strikes

Filters for the spam that Discord's AutoMod does not catch, and what happens as one member's hits add up.

Read first: How strikes add up

How strikes add up

A strike is one hit of the spam filters in /security filters: a message that was deleted for flooding, too many pictures, an emoji wall, a wall of empty lines, glitch text or the other filters you turn on. The older filters (links, program files, known scam pictures, repeated messages) have their own consequences and add no strikes. Strikes fade: one stops counting after the hours set with /security strikes decay_hours (24 by default).

The ladder is the steps you turn on, each at a number of strikes. Reina takes the most severe step that has been reached. By default it warns at 2 strikes and puts the member in quarantine at 4. Timeout and kick are off until you set them.

  • Warn: Reina posts a short notice in the channel, which pings the member and deletes itself after 5 minutes. It never sends a direct message. You can write your own wording with /security strikes notice:.
  • Quarantine: the member gets the Quarantine role, and only a moderator pressing Approve lets them in, because answering the gate question does not. This needs the Quarantine role: run /security verify first.
  • Timeout: Discord's timeout for the minutes you set. It needs Timeout Members, which Reina's invite does not ask for. Until you grant it, this step warns instead and says so: Server Settings > Roles > Reina > Timeout Members.
  • Kick: removes the member. Reina needs Kick Members and a role above theirs, or it warns instead and says why.
  • Staff are never filtered or struck. A dry run (/security dryrun) deletes nothing and counts no strike.

/security filters

Shows and sets the spam filters, the ones Discord's AutoMod cannot do: floods (many messages in a few seconds), picture bursts, sticker bursts, emoji walls, walls of empty lines, glitch text, shouting in capitals, very long messages and spoiler spam.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina needs Manage Messages to delete.

Steps, options and example

A message that trips a filter is deleted, the channel gets a short notice, the moderators get one alert, and the hit counts as a strike (see /security strikes). Options you leave out stay as they are. With none set, the reply only shows the filters.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Spam filters AutoMod cannot do: floods, image spam, emoji walls, empty lines, glitch text

OptionWhat it isRequired
floodMessages one member may send in 5 seconds before the burst is deleted (0 = off)
From 0 to 30.
No

From 0 to 30.
No
stickersStickers one member may post in 10 seconds (0 = off)
From 0 to 30.
No

From 0 to 100.
No

From 0 to 200.
No
glitchTrue: delete glitch (zalgo) textNo
capsPercent of capital letters that counts as shouting, in messages of 12 letters or more (0 = off)
From 0 to 100.
No
lengthCharacters allowed in one message (0 = off)
From 0 to 4000.
No
spoilersSpoiler tags allowed in one message (0 = off)
From 0 to 50.
No
skip_channelA channel the filters leave alone (run again with the same channel to stop skipping it)No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick filters, then press Enter.
  2. To see where you stand, press Enter with nothing set. Reina answers with one line per filter.
  3. Set a number to change a limit, and 0 to turn that filter off: flood is messages in 5 seconds, images and stickers are per 10 seconds, emoji and lines are per message, caps is the percent of capital letters in a message of 12 letters or more, length is characters per message, spoilers is spoiler tags per message. Set glitch to True or False.
  4. To leave a channel out of the filters, pick it in skip_channel. Run it again with the same channel to filter it again.

Example: /security filters flood:8 caps:70 skip_channel:#memes

Good to know

  • Starting settings: floods more than 6 messages in 5 seconds, more than 4 posts with pictures in 10 seconds, more than 12 emoji, more than 15 line breaks, and glitch text are on. Caps, length, spoilers and stickers are off.
  • One post counts once for the picture limit, however many pictures it has, so sharing a set of screenshots in one post is never a burst. Inside a code block (between ``` marks) only empty lines beyond 2 in a row count, so a pasted log or code, blank lines between its parts included, is not a wall of empty lines, but a pile of empty lines wrapped in a code block still is.
  • The filters run for every member who is not staff, trusted members and boosters included, because a flood is a flood. They skip Reina's own channels, the trap and gate channels, and the channels you skip.
  • A flood deletes the whole burst, not just the last message.
  • The picture limit here is about bursts. It has nothing to do with the scam picture lists in /security images.
  • Reina keeps only counts and times, in memory. The database gets one log line per hit with the name of the filter and no text.
  • If Reina lacks Manage Messages, it still counts, alerts and adds strikes, but deletes nothing, and the reply tells you to turn it on: Server Settings > Roles > Reina.
  • A dry run (/security dryrun) deletes nothing and counts no strike. It only alerts.

/security strikes

Shows and sets what happens as one member's spam filter hits add up.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina needs Timeout Members for the timeout step, Kick Members for the kick step and the Quarantine role for the quarantine step.

Steps, options and example

Each step has a number of strikes: warn, quarantine, timeout and kick, with 0 meaning that step is off. Reina takes the most severe step that has been reached. A strike stops counting after a number of hours. Options you leave out stay as they are. With none set, the reply only shows the ladder.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: What happens as spam filter hits add up: warn, quarantine, time out or kick

OptionWhat it isRequired
warn_atStrikes that post a warning in the channel (0 = never)
From 0 to 50.
No
hold_atStrikes that put the member in quarantine for a moderator (0 = never)
From 0 to 50.
No
timeout_atStrikes that time the member out (0 = never; needs Timeout Members for Reina)
From 0 to 50.
No
kick_atStrikes that kick the member (0 = never)
From 0 to 50.
No
timeout_minutesHow long a timeout lasts, in minutes
From 1 to 40320.
No
decay_hoursHours until a strike no longer counts
From 1 to 720.
No
noticeYour own warning text; {member} and {n} are filled in; type default for mine
1 to 300 characters.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /security and pick strikes, then press Enter.
  2. Press Enter with nothing set to see the ladder, how long a strike counts, and the warning text.
  3. Set warn_at, hold_at, timeout_at or kick_at to the strike count for that step (0 turns it off). Set timeout_minutes for how long a timeout lasts and decay_hours for how long a strike counts.
  4. Optional: in notice type your own warning text. {member} and {n} are filled in. Type default to get Reina's wording back.

Example: /security strikes warn_at:3 hold_at:6 decay_hours:48

Good to know

  • Starting ladder: warn at 2 strikes and quarantine at 4. Timeout and kick are off. A strike counts for 24 hours.
  • The timeout step needs Timeout Members, which Reina's invite does not ask for. Until you give it, that step warns instead and the reply says so. To give it: Server Settings > Roles > Reina > Timeout Members. Or time the member out by hand: right-click the member > Timeout.
  • The quarantine step uses the Quarantine role, and a member held this way is freed only by a moderator pressing Approve, not by answering the gate question. If the server has no Quarantine role, the step warns instead and the reply says to run /security verify.
  • The kick step needs Kick Members and a role above the member's. If Reina cannot, it warns instead and the alert says why.
  • The warning is posted in the channel, pings only that member, and deletes itself after 5 minutes. Reina never sends a direct message.
  • Staff are never struck. A dry run counts no strike. When a moderator lets a member in (Approve), their strikes start again from 0.

Server design

For server owners and anyone with Manage Server. These commands make channels, categories and roles, restyle their names and check them for readability. Reina shows a preview and waits for your Confirm before it changes anything, takes a backup first, and keeps a design change undoable for 7 days. You can rename any channel, category or role Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names.

First-time setup

One command that sets up the whole server in seven short steps, security included. Nothing changes until you press Build on the last step.

Read first: The seven steps

The seven steps

/setup is one message that changes as you go. Back returns to the step before and Next saves your picks. Steps 3 to 6 are optional: Skip picks None, and None means Reina leaves that part alone. A menu you do not touch keeps its first choice: no preset, the roles made with the top one counted as a moderator role, and no theme. On step 6 the ticks start from what the server has: what Reina would make is ticked, and what is already yours (a #rules you made, a welcome screen you set) is unticked.

If you pick None on steps 3 to 6, Build sets up security only, the same as /security setup.

  • 1 Welcome: counts your channels and roles, says whether Community is on, and lists any permission Reina is missing, with where to turn it on.
  • 2 Security: always set up. Three menus pick the alert layout (all in one channel, organized by kind, or organized with a kick and ban log), the guide channels (just #report-scams, all three, or None) and the trap channel (make one, or None).
  • 3 Preset (optional): Gaming, Art, Study, Streamer, Friends or Support, with a tree of what will be made and what is already there. None keeps your channels as they are.
  • 4 Roles (optional): a ladder of four roles with no permissions. Make them with the top one counted as a moderator role for Reina's buttons, make them only, or None.
  • 5 Theme (optional): Plain, Emoji or Cute. The step shows the preset's new names before and after, and lists every channel, category and role already in the server that the theme would rename or recolor, in tick menus (25 to a menu, with Previous page and Next page when there are many). Only the ones a design made start ticked; the others are listed unticked, so tick any you want changed. Build leaves unticked ones as they are. None leaves every name as it is, and anything new then uses the server's current theme.
  • 6 Rules and welcome screen (optional): two ticks, Post the rules in #rules and Replace the welcome screen. The rules are written in the server's own voice. Post the rules starts ticked only when Reina makes #rules (or a design made it); if you already have a #rules, it starts unticked. Replace the welcome screen starts unticked when a welcome screen you set is on. The welcome screen needs Community: Server Settings > Enable Community > Get Started. If Community is off, Reina skips the welcome screen and says so. If neither the preset nor the server has a rules channel, Reina makes a small Info category for #rules.
  • 7 Summary: everything Build will do, in order, with the tree. Reina takes a backup first. Build stays off if the plan would pass one of Discord's limits (500 channels, 250 roles, 50 channels in one category).

/setup

Sets up the whole server in seven short steps, in one message that changes as you go: Welcome, Security, Preset, Roles, Theme, Rules and welcome screen, and Summary.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina itself needs Manage Roles, Manage Channels and Manage Server, and the first step says which one is missing.

Steps, options and example

Nothing changes until you press Build on the last step. Then Reina takes a backup, sets up security exactly like /security setup, and makes the channels, roles, rules post, welcome screen and theme you picked. It makes only what is missing, so running it again makes nothing twice.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Set up your server step by step: security, channels, roles, theme and rules

How to

  1. In any channel type /setup and press Enter. Only you see the message, and only you can press its buttons.
  2. Step 1, Welcome: read the counts and whether Community is on. If Reina is missing a permission, the step names it: turn it on at Server Settings > Roles > Reina, run /setup again, then press Next.
  3. Step 2, Security: use the three menus to pick the alert layout, the guide channels and the trap channel, then press Next. Security is always set up; the menus only pick how. A line under the menus says members who never answer the gate question wait for a moderator, and that to kick them after a set time you run /security verify kick_after: after Build.
  4. Step 3, Preset: pick Gaming, Art, Study, Streamer, Friends or Support, or None to keep your channels as they are. Read the tree under the menu, then press Next. Press Skip to pick None.
  5. Step 4, Roles: pick whether to make the four-role ladder, and whether the top role counts as a moderator role for Reina's buttons, or None. Press Next, or Skip.
  6. Step 5, Theme: pick Plain, Emoji or Cute, or None to leave every name as it is. The step shows the preset's new names before and after, then lists every existing channel, category and role the theme would rename or recolor in tick menus (25 to a menu; use Previous page and Next page for more). Only the ones a design made start ticked, and the others start unticked: tick any you want changed. Build leaves unticked ones as they are. Press Next, or Skip.
  7. Step 6, Rules and welcome screen: tick Post the rules in #rules, Replace the welcome screen, both, or neither. What is already yours starts unticked: a #rules you made, or a welcome screen you set. The welcome screen needs Community: Server Settings > Enable Community > Get Started. If members can post in a rules, announcements or welcome channel that was there before Reina, a menu also offers Make them read-only; the default is to leave their permissions as they are. Press Next, or Skip (Skip leaves them as they are).
  8. Step 7, Summary: read what Build will do and the tree of channels and roles, then press the green Build button. Use Back at any step to change a pick.
  9. Reina shows its progress, then says what it made and how to undo it.
  10. Stopped halfway? Run /setup again within 24 hours and press Continue to pick up at the step you stopped on, or Start over.

Example: /setup

Good to know

  • Skip picks None for that step. None on every optional step (3 to 6) sets up security only, the same as /security setup.
  • Reina changes nothing on your existing channels unless you pick it. The read-only offer on step 6 appears only when members can post in a rules, announcements or welcome channel you had before. If you pick it, Build makes those channels read-only for members (moderators and Reina can still post), and /security undo puts them back.
  • A menu you do not touch keeps its first choice: no preset, the roles made with the top one counted as a moderator role, and no theme. Pick None on step 4 if you do not want the roles.
  • The roles and the theme also need Manage Channels and Manage Roles of your own. Without them, Build makes the rest, skips those two and says so.
  • Reina takes a backup before it changes anything. If the backup fails, Reina changes nothing and says so.
  • Reina makes only what is missing. A channel or role you already have, even one with a different capital letter or an emoji in its name, is listed as already there and left as it is.
  • The roles have no permissions, and Reina never gives them to anyone: hand them out yourself at Server Settings > Members.
  • If the plan would pass one of Discord's limits (500 channels, 250 roles, 50 channels in one category), the Summary says what to delete and Build stays off.
  • Buttons stop working after 14 minutes with no press, and nothing has changed. Run /setup again to pick up where you left off.
  • Undo for 7 days: /security undo takes back the security part, and /design undo takes back the design part.
  • You can rename anything Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names. Two things to know: Reina gives the trap channel a new name every day on purpose, and /design undo leaves a name or color alone if you changed it since.

Presets and themes

Pick a design from the catalog and see it first, add a ready-made preset after the first setup, change how every name looks, put plain letters back, set a free banner, and check that names and role colors are easy to read.

Read first: The six presets, The three themes, Role names, Designs: what each part means, Banners, Discord's limits on new channels and roles

The six presets

A preset is a set of categories with channels, plus four roles. rules, announcements, status and schedule are read-only for members: they can read and add reactions, but not post or start threads. Your moderator roles and the ladder's moderator role can post there. When the Quarantine role exists, every new channel is hidden from it. Reina makes only what is missing: it matches by kind and plain name (capital letters, emoji and dashes ignored), so a #General you already have is not made again. It never moves, renames or deletes what you have.

  • Gaming: Info (rules, announcements), Chat (general, memes, clips, looking-for-group), Voice (Lobby, Duo for 2, Squad for 5).
  • Art: Info (rules, announcements), Chat (general, art-chat), Gallery (showcase, wip, critique, commissions, resources), Voice (Studio, Chill).
  • Study: Info (rules, announcements), Chat (general, resources, check-ins), Focus (voice rooms Focus 1, Focus 2 and Quiet Lounge).
  • Streamer: Info (rules, announcements, schedule), Chat (general, clips, suggestions), Voice (Hangout, Watch Party).
  • Friends: Chat (general, memes, memories, plans), Voice (Hangout, Games, Movie Night). It has no Info category; if the rules are wanted, Reina adds a small Info category with #rules.
  • Support: Info (rules, announcements, status), Help (faq, questions, bug-reports, feedback), Chat (general), Voice (Office Hours).

The three themes

A theme is how names look, and which colors the roles get. Every color passes the 3:1 contrast that Discord's dark and light themes need to read a role name. No theme uses box lines, circles or fancy-font letters, because screen readers read those out loud one by one.

  • Plain (the default): text channels in lowercase with dashes, like general, and categories as written, like Chat. Role colors #3498DB (blue), #7289DA (blurple), #D35400 (orange) and #E74C3C (red).
  • Emoji: one emoji in front of each text channel and category, such as a speech balloon in front of general and a pushpin in front of Info. Voice channels have none. Roles get a small emoji too (a silhouette, a star, a gem and a shield). The colors are the same as Plain.
  • Cute: a ribbon, cherry blossom or sparkles in front of each text channel and category, cute role names, and softer role colors #26A06E (green), #E0568F (pink), #9B7FE0 (purple) and #E06B4A (coral).

Role names

Every design makes the same four roles, as a ladder from lowest to highest: member, regular, trusted and moderator. Each preset names them its own way, and the Cute theme renames them. Reina remembers which role is which by id, so you can rename them freely. The top role always has Mod in its name. None of the roles has a permission, and Reina never gives them to anyone: hand them out yourself at Server Settings > Members.

  • Gaming: Player, Regular, Veteran, Moderator. Art: Doodler, Artist, Curator, Moderator. Study: Student, Scholar, Mentor, Moderator.
  • Streamer: Viewer, Regular, VIP, Moderator. Friends: Friend, Buddy, Bestie, Moderator. Support: Member, Regular, Helper, Moderator.
  • With no preset: Member, Regular, Trusted, Moderator.
  • Cute theme: Sprout, Blossom, Bloom, Guardian Mod. Emoji theme: the same names with a small emoji in front.

Designs: what each part means

A design from /design pick is made of parts. Step 2 lists them in one menu, all ticked to start. Untick the ones you do not want. Step 3 then lists every channel it will make, and you can untick channels one by one.

  • Emoji in channel names: each text channel starts with its emoji and the theme's separator. Unticked, the names are only the letters.
  • Dividers between groups: a channel made only of lines, at the end of each group except the last, that separates the groups in the channel list. Nobody can post in it. It is a text channel, so it can be deleted like any other.
  • Staff roles with the theme's names: five roles, from the owner's role down to Every member, named for the theme. They have no powers, and Reina never gives them to anyone: hand them out yourself at Server Settings > Members.
  • Colors for those staff roles: the theme's colors. A color that is hard to read on Discord's light theme is nudged lighter or darker so it passes the same 3 to 1 contrast as /design check. It does something only when the staff roles are ticked too.
  • Rules post in the rules channel: Reina writes the rules in the server's own voice, posts them and pins them. A design with an age-restricted channel adds a line for adults.
  • Welcome screen for new members: one short line and up to three channels. Needs Community: Server Settings > Enable Community > Get Started.
  • Posters at the top of channels: pictures Reina posts and pins as the first message of the welcome, rules, roles and announcements channels. Each one shows the channel's name on the theme's banner art, in the Style you pick. Every one of those four channels gets its poster, whether the design makes it or your server had it before. /design undo takes Reina's posters down again and leaves your own messages there as they are.
  • Server icon: the theme's server picture in the Style you pick. It replaces the server's picture, and /design undo puts the one from before back. No boost needed.
  • Server banner: the theme's banner in the Style you pick. Discord allows a banner only from Boost level 2 (Server Settings > Boost Status shows your level). Without it, Reina leaves the banner as it is and says to run /design banner once the server has the boost.
  • Style: one menu under the parts, with the six looks of every theme: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, and Dark and edgy. The posters, the server icon and the banner all come in that style. It starts at the style of the banner Reina set on your server for that theme, or Option 1. Afterward you can change any one of them to any theme and style: /design posters, /design icon and /design banner.
  • Letters: the font for channel and category names. Fancy letters are only in text channel and category names, never in role names. Plain letters, the last option, gives normal lowercase names with the emoji and dividers kept. Screen readers read fancy letters out loud one by one, so Plain letters is the easiest to read aloud, and /design plain turns any fancy name plain later.

Banners

Every theme has six free server banners: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, and Dark and edgy. They are free for every server and stay free. Run /design banner to pick one. Reina shows the picture first and sets it only when you press Confirm.

Discord only allows a server banner from Boost level 2. Server Settings > Boost Status shows your level. Below that, Reina changes nothing and says so.

Reina takes a backup before it changes the banner, and /design undo puts the banner from before back. Reina only takes off a banner it set itself: choose Take off the banner I set in /design banner. A banner you or someone else set is changed or removed by hand: Server Settings > Overview > Server Banner Background.

/design pick sets the matching banner too when Server banner is ticked in its parts and the server has Boost level 2. With Server banner unticked, it ends with a line asking if you want a matching one.

Discord's limits on new channels and roles

Discord limits how many channels and roles a bot may make, and it does not publish the numbers. So Reina makes one channel or role about every 2 seconds, and step 3 of /design pick says about how long the build takes. The progress message updates as it goes.

Reina also counts what it made in the last day. When a design would make more than Reina allows itself (150 channels per server and 250 in all servers in 24 hours, 100 roles per server in 48 hours), or Discord has paused new channels for the server, step 3 says so and when to come back, and Confirm stays off.

If Discord pauses new channels partway through a build, Reina stops at once and keeps what it made. A message in the alert channel says how much is made and when Discord allows more. Reina finishes the rest by itself then and says so there. That message has two buttons: Undo everything takes back what the design made, and Leave it stops Reina from finishing it (run /design pick any time later).

/design preset

Adds a ready-made set of channels, categories and roles for your kind of server.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels, and Manage Server for the welcome screen.

Steps, options and example

Reina first shows a tree of what it will make, with already there beside what you have, and two ticks: Post the rules in #rules and Replace the welcome screen. On Confirm it takes a backup, makes only what is missing, and does what is ticked. What is already yours starts unticked, so an existing #rules or welcome screen is never changed unless you tick it. Confirm is offered even when every channel already exists, as long as the rules are not pinned yet or the welcome screen does not show the preset's welcome.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Add a ready-made set of channels and roles; only what is missing is made

OptionWhat it isRequired
presetWhat kind of server this is
Pick from: Gaming, Art, Study, Streamer, Friends, Support.
Yes
themeHow the new names look (the server's current theme if left out)
Pick from: Plain, Emoji, Cute.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick preset from the list.
  2. In preset pick Gaming, Art, Study, Streamer, Friends or Support. Optional: in theme pick Plain, Emoji or Cute for the new names. Left out, new names use the server's current theme, which is Plain at first. Press Enter.
  3. Read the preview. In the menu under it, tick or untick Post the rules in #rules and Replace the welcome screen. Post the rules starts ticked only when Reina makes #rules; Replace the welcome screen starts unticked when a welcome screen you set is on.
  4. Press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  5. Reina reports its progress, then says what it made, what was already there, and how to undo it.

Example: /design preset preset:Gaming theme:Emoji

Good to know

  • Nothing that already exists is renamed, moved or deleted, and an existing #rules or welcome screen is changed only when you tick it. To restyle existing names, run /design theme.
  • The welcome screen needs Community: Server Settings > Enable Community > Get Started. Without it, Reina skips the welcome screen and says so.
  • If everything in the preset is already here, the preview says so and Confirm only posts the rules or sets the welcome screen. If there is nothing at all left to do, Reina says so and changes nothing. If the preset would pass one of Discord's limits (500 channels, 250 roles, 50 channels in one category), it changes nothing and says what to delete.
  • A channel or role a design made and you renamed is still recognized, so a second /design preset does not make it again.
  • The four roles have no permissions, and Reina never gives them to anyone. They do not become moderator roles for Reina's buttons here; /setup asks about that, or run /security mods.
  • You can rename anything Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names. Two things to know: Reina gives the trap channel a new name every day on purpose, and /design undo leaves a name or color alone if you changed it since.

/design theme

Changes how names look across the server: Plain, Emoji or Cute.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server, Manage Channels and Manage Roles permissions. Reina also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels.

Steps, options and example

Reina lists every name it would change, before and after, as a tick list: all ticked at first, 25 to a menu, with Previous page and Next page when there are many. Untick any you want to keep. On Confirm it takes a backup and renames the ticked text channels, voice channels and categories, and renames and recolors the ticked ones among the four ladder roles that a design made. Roles you made yourself are never touched. The theme you pick is also used for new names from then on.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Restyle channel and category names, and the names and colors of the roles a design made

OptionWhat it isRequired
themeThe look to switch to
Pick from: Plain, Emoji, Cute.
Yes

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick theme from the list.
  2. In theme pick Plain, Emoji or Cute, then press Enter.
  3. Read the before and after names in the menus under the message. Untick any you want to keep as they are, and use Previous page and Next page if there are more than one page. Then press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  4. Reina says how many it restyled, and how to undo it.

Example: /design theme theme:Cute

Good to know

  • Text channel names become lowercase with dashes, as Discord requires. A voice channel keeps its capital letters and spaces but loses any emoji.
  • A channel you renamed by hand is on the list too, because the theme changes every name; untick it to keep your name. If you untick everything and press Confirm, Reina changes nothing and takes no backup. /design undo puts the old names back for 7 days.
  • Reina leaves its own security channels and roles and your moderator roles alone, and says how many. To change one, do it by hand: right-click a channel > Edit Channel, or Server Settings > Roles.
  • Roles at or above your own highest role are left out of the list, and Reina says how many; the server owner sees them all.
  • If every name already looks like that theme, Reina says so and changes nothing.
  • You can rename anything Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names. Two things to know: Reina gives the trap channel a new name every day on purpose, and /design undo leaves a name or color alone if you changed it since.

/design pick

Opens one private message where you pick a design from the catalog (21 themes, each with several templates in a Small and a Big size), see exactly how it will look, choose its parts and letters, and read the full list of what will change before anything does.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels. The mode Restyle mine only also needs Manage Channels and Manage Roles for you, and the mode Replace my channels is for the server owner only.

Steps, options and example

Nothing changes until you press Confirm on the last step, and Reina takes a backup first.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Pick a design from the catalog: see it first, choose its parts and font, then build it

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick pick from the list, then press Enter. Only you see the message that opens, and only you can press its buttons.
  2. Step 1: pick a theme, one of its templates and a size (Small or Big, with the channel count). Press Next.
  3. Step 2: tick the parts you want, pick the letters for names and the Style of the posters, server icon and banner, and read the tree of channels. If your server already has channels of its own, a last menu says what happens to them. Press Next.
  4. Step 3: read the list of what will change. Untick any channel you do not want. Press Confirm within 14 minutes. The Confirm button is red when it deletes channels.
  5. Reina reports its progress, then says what it made, what was already there, any name Discord changed, and how to undo it with /design undo.

Example: /design pick

Good to know

  • The parts are listed in the topic Designs: what each part means. The letters menu starts with the fonts made for the theme, then the fonts of other themes, and ends with Plain letters.
  • Add beside mine (the first mode): Reina makes only what your server lacks, matched by kind and plain name, so a #general you already have is not made again, and the preview lists the ones that are already there. Nothing of yours is renamed, moved or deleted.
  • Restyle mine only: no new channels. Your own text channels, voice channels and categories get this design's look around their own plain names, and the preview lists every name before and after. No role is ever renamed or recolored in this mode. Needs Manage Channels and Manage Roles for you.
  • Replace my channels: only the server owner sees it, and its Confirm is red. Reina deletes every channel and category of yours that step 3 lists (never its own security channels, the channels Community needs, the system messages and AFK channels, the channel you ran /design pick in, or a category that still holds one of those) and then builds the design. The messages in the deleted channels are gone for good, and invite links to them stop working: make new ones afterward (right-click a channel > Invite People). If your own rules channel or welcome screen channels are among the deleted ones, step 3 ticks the rules post and welcome screen again and says so. Only the server owner can take a Replace back with /design undo, which makes the channels again with their names, topics, places and permissions, but empty, and puts them back on your welcome screen.
  • The staff roles have no powers and Reina never gives them to anyone: hand them out yourself at Server Settings > Members. This command does not make the roles members pick for themselves (colors, pronouns, pings): /design roles makes them and posts the buttons, a dropdown or reactions under the roles poster.
  • Some themes have age-restricted channels, such as the Anime Waifu Lounge. Reina makes them age-restricted, and the rules post then ends with a line for adults.
  • Discord can change a name as it makes the channel, for example by dropping a character it does not allow. Reina lists every name it changed. To pick another name: right-click the channel > Edit Channel.
  • The welcome screen needs Community: Server Settings > Enable Community > Get Started. Without it, Reina skips the welcome screen and says so.
  • If the design would pass one of Discord's limits (500 channels, 250 roles, 50 channels in one category), Reina changes nothing and says what to delete.
  • The posters, server icon and banner come as a matched set in the Style you picked. The banner needs Boost level 2: without it, Reina skips the banner and says to run /design banner later. A picture that is not ready for that style is skipped with a line naming the command that sets one that is. To change any one of them afterward, to any theme and style, run /design posters, /design icon or /design banner.
  • If the message says this part of Reina Bot is not open in your server yet, it is still being tested in a few servers: ask for it with /feedback.
  • You can rename anything Reina made, and Reina still knows what it is, because it remembers ids, not names. Two things to know: Reina gives the trap channel a new name every day on purpose, and /design undo leaves a name or color alone if you changed it since.

/design plain

Puts plain letters back in every text channel, voice channel and category whose name uses fancy letters (bold, script, small capitals and the like), whether a design made it or you did.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server, Manage Channels and Manage Roles permissions. Reina also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels.

Steps, options and example

Emoji, separators and dividers stay as they are. Reina lists every name it would change, before and after, as a tick list, and changes nothing until you press Confirm.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Put plain letters back in channel and category names; emoji and dividers stay

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick plain from the list, then press Enter.
  2. Read the before and after names in the menus under the message. Untick any you want to keep as they are, and use Previous page and Next page if there is more than one page.
  3. Press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it. Reina takes a backup first.
  4. Reina says how many it changed, and how to undo it.

Example: /design plain

Good to know

  • You can run it any time, not only after /design pick. Dividers (the channels made only of lines) are never listed. A voice channel keeps its capital letters and spaces.
  • If a catalog design is set, its letters are plain from then on, so a later /design pick starts from that. /design undo puts the fancy letters back.
  • Reina leaves its own security channels alone, and says how many. To change one, do it by hand: right-click a channel > Edit Channel.
  • If every name already uses plain letters, Reina says so and changes nothing. If you untick everything and press Confirm, Reina changes nothing and takes no backup.
  • If the message says this part of Reina Bot is not open in your server yet, it is still being tested in a few servers: ask for it with /feedback.

/design banner

Sets one of the free banners of a theme as your server banner. Each theme has six: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, and Dark and edgy.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Server. The server needs Boost level 2, because Discord only allows a banner from that level.

Steps, options and example

Reina shows the picture first and sets it only when you press Confirm. It takes a backup first, and /design undo puts the banner from before back. Banners are free for every server.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Set one of the free server banners of a theme (needs Boost level 2)

OptionWhat it isRequired
choiceWhich banner: one of the theme's six, or take off the one I set
Pick from: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, Dark and edgy, Take off the banner I set.
Yes
themeThe theme (the theme of your last /design pick if left out)
Pick from: Tabletop (DnD), Art, Gaming, Streaming, Academy, Gothic, Horror, Cute / Kawaii, Cherry Blossom, Music, K-Pop, Minimal / Clean, Arcade, Nature, Pastel Goth, Cyber, Code, Magic, Divine / Holy, Holidays, Anime.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick banner from the list.
  2. In choice pick Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, or Dark and edgy. Optional: in theme pick the theme. Left out, it is the theme of your last /design pick. Press Enter.
  3. Look at the picture in the preview. Press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  4. Reina says the banner is set. To see it: Server Settings > Overview > Server Banner Background.
  5. Channel posters already up stay as they are. For posters in the new banner's style, run /design posters with the same theme and choice.

Example: /design banner choice:Option 1 theme:Cute / Kawaii

Good to know

  • Take off the banner I set, in choice, removes the banner only if Reina set the one that is there now. If someone changed it since, Reina leaves it alone and says how to change it by hand: Server Settings > Overview > Server Banner Background.
  • Without Boost level 2, Reina changes nothing and says so. Server Settings > Boost Status shows your level. Once it is there, run /design banner again.
  • Some banners are not on every copy of Reina Bot yet. If the one you pick is missing, Reina names the ones that are ready for that theme. To ask for the missing one, use /feedback.
  • /design undo puts the banner from before back. If the banner from before is no longer in Reina's backups, Reina says how to set it by hand.
  • If the message says this part of Reina Bot is not open in your server yet, it is still being tested in a few servers: ask for it with /feedback.

/design icon

Sets one of the free server icons of any theme as your server picture.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Manage Server. No boost needed.

Steps, options and example

Each theme has six, one for each banner: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, and Dark and edgy. Mix freely: the icon can come from another theme than your design. Reina shows the picture first and sets it only when you press Confirm. It takes a backup first, and /design undo puts the icon from before back.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Set one of the free server icons of a theme

OptionWhat it isRequired
choiceWhich icon: one of the theme's six, or take off the one I set
Pick from: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, Dark and edgy, Take off the icon I set.
Yes
themeThe theme (the theme of your last /design pick if left out)
Pick from: Tabletop (DnD), Art, Gaming, Streaming, Academy, Gothic, Horror, Cute / Kawaii, Cherry Blossom, Music, K-Pop, Minimal / Clean, Arcade, Nature, Pastel Goth, Cyber, Code, Magic, Divine / Holy, Holidays, Anime.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick icon from the list.
  4. Reina says the icon is set. To see it: Server Settings > Overview.

Example: /design icon choice:Dark and edgy theme:Cute / Kawaii

Good to know

  • Take off the icon I set, in choice, removes the icon only if Reina set the one that is there now. If someone changed it since, Reina leaves it alone and says how to change it by hand: Server Settings > Overview.
  • Some icons are not on every copy of Reina Bot yet. If the one you pick is missing, Reina names the ones that are ready for that theme. To ask for the missing one, use /feedback.
  • /design undo puts the icon from before back, even days later. If the icon from before is no longer in Reina's backups, Reina says how to set it by hand.
  • If the message says this part of Reina Bot is not open in your server yet, it is still being tested in a few servers: ask for it with /feedback.

/design posters

Puts up the four channel posters of any theme in one style: Reina posts and pins them in your welcome, rules, roles and announcements channels, and takes down the posters it put up there before.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina also needs Send Messages, Attach Files and Pin Messages in those channels.

Steps, options and example

Mix freely: the posters can come from another theme than your design or your icon. Reina shows the first poster and the channels first and changes nothing until you press Confirm. It takes a backup first, and /design undo puts the old posters back.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Put up the channel posters of a theme in one style, in place of the ones I put up before

OptionWhat it isRequired
choiceWhich style: one of the theme's six
Pick from: Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, Dark and edgy.
Yes
themeThe theme (the theme of your last /design pick if left out)
Pick from: Tabletop (DnD), Art, Gaming, Streaming, Academy, Gothic, Horror, Cute / Kawaii, Cherry Blossom, Music, K-Pop, Minimal / Clean, Arcade, Nature, Pastel Goth, Cyber, Code, Magic, Divine / Holy, Holidays, Anime.
No

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick posters from the list.
  2. In choice pick Option 1, Option 2, Option 3, Cute style, Cute style, pastel pink, or Dark and edgy. Optional: in theme pick the theme. Left out, it is the theme of your last /design pick. Press Enter.
  3. Look at the first poster and the channels named in the preview. Press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  4. Reina says how many posters it put up and how many old ones it took down.

Example: /design posters choice:Cute style theme:Cute / Kawaii

Good to know

  • Like /design pick, this command puts posters in the welcome, rules, roles and announcements channels you made yourself too. Your own messages there stay as they are.
  • If someone deleted one of Reina's posters by hand, Reina knows: the next /design posters puts one up there again, and it is not counted among the old ones taken down or brought back by /design undo.
  • If your server has none of the welcome, rules, roles or announcements channels, Reina changes nothing and says so. Make one (or run /design pick), then run /design posters again.
  • If a poster could not go up in a channel, Reina says which one and what permission it needs there: Edit Channel > Permissions > Reina.
  • If the message says this part of Reina Bot is not open in your server yet, it is still being tested in a few servers: ask for it with /feedback.

/design check

Checks every role color and every channel, category and role name for readability, and lists each problem with the fix. It changes nothing until you press Confirm.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server, Manage Channels and Manage Roles permissions. Reina also needs Manage Roles and Manage Channels, because it offers to fix what it finds.

Steps, options and example

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Check role colors and names for readability on dark and light themes

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick check from the list.
  2. Read the report. Each line names a role or channel, says what is wrong, and ends with the fix.
  3. To let Reina make the fixes it can, press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it. Reina takes a backup first, and fixes only what the report listed.
  4. Changed your mind? Type /design undo within 7 days.

Example: /design check

Good to know

  • Role colors need a contrast of at least 3 to 1 against Discord's dark theme (#313338) and its light theme (#FFFFFF). The report says which theme a color fails on, and the fix keeps the color's hue and changes only how light or dark it is, so a gray stays a gray and a blue stays a blue. A role with no color is skipped. A role colored #5865F2 reads well on the light theme but not on the dark one.
  • Names are flagged when they use box lines, circles or other decorative symbols, fullwidth or fancy-font letters, invisible characters, more than one emoji, or an emoji that is not at the start. Screen readers read those out loud one by one. An emoji built from several joined together (a family, a person running) counts as one. The fix for a text channel is a plain lowercase name; for other names it removes the symbols, and small capital letters become plain ones.
  • After a design from /design pick, fancy letters, emoji, frames, dividers and box lines in the channels and categories that design made are its style, so they are not listed, and the report says so. Names Reina did not make are still checked. To put plain letters back in any of them, run /design plain.
  • A name with no automatic fix, or whose fix would change nothing, is listed with how to rename it by hand: right-click it > Edit Channel, or Server Settings > Roles.
  • Reina skips roles that belong to a bot. It leaves its own security channels and roles, your moderator roles and roles above its own as they are, and says how many, so you can change them by hand. Roles at or above your own highest role are left for someone higher up or the server owner, and Reina says how many.

Roles members pick

Members give themselves roles (colors, pronouns, pings, or any roles you choose) from a panel Reina posts: buttons, a dropdown or reactions. Free for every server.

Read first: Buttons, dropdown or reactions

Buttons, dropdown or reactions

A panel is one message that Reina posts, with buttons, a dropdown or reactions, and it says what a press does in its mode. With buttons and the dropdown, only that member sees Reina's reply. With reactions there is no reply: on Pick any, Pick one and Up to N the member reacts to get the role and takes the reaction off to lose it. Everything is free, every style and every mode, for every server.

One panel offers up to 25 roles as buttons, up to 125 as a dropdown and up to 20 as reactions. A server can have up to 100 panels, and Discord allows 250 roles in a server in all. If a panel would hold more than its style allows, Reina says so and you pick another style or split the roles over two panels.

Reina asks for the narrowest permission it can: Manage Roles, and Add Reactions and Manage Messages in that one channel only for the reactions style. The invite link's permissions do not change. When a permission is missing, Reina says which one and how to give it: Server Settings > Roles > Reina for Manage Roles, or Edit Channel > Permissions > Reina for the channel permissions. You can always do the same thing by hand: right-click the member > Roles.

  • Buttons (the default): one button per role. A member presses it and Reina answers privately.
  • Dropdown: a menu with up to 125 roles, 25 to a menu. Everyone sees the same menu, so a pick there opens the member's own private copy with the roles they have already ticked. Reina changes only what they tick or untick there (a role a moderator gave meanwhile stays), and answers privately with what it added and took off. The copy works for 10 minutes; after that, pick in the panel's menu again.
  • Reactions: classic reaction roles. Reina adds one emoji per role under the message. A reaction Reina refuses is taken off again, and Reina never sends a direct message.
  • Pick any (the default for pings): press a role to get it, press it again to take it off.
  • Pick one (the default for colors and pronouns): a new pick replaces the old one. Buttons and the dropdown's private copy add a None choice, so a member can always end up with nothing.
  • Up to 2, Up to 3 or Up to 5: like Pick any, with a cap. At the cap Reina refuses the new one and says to take one off first; nothing is swapped silently, and taking a role off always works.
  • Add only: gives roles and never takes them back. Members cannot take the role off through this panel, so Reina's reply says where to do it: a Remove only panel for the same role in your server, or a moderator.
  • Remove only: takes roles off and never gives them. Pair it with an Add only panel.
  • How long they keep it: for good (the default), 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week or 30 days. Reina takes the role off by itself when the time is up.
  • Only for members with this role: optional. A member without that role is told which role the panel needs and to ask a moderator, and can still take their own panel role off.

/design roles

Opens one private message where you build a panel members use to pick their own roles: colors, pronouns and pings from your design, or up to 25 roles you already have.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server and Manage Roles permissions. Reina needs Manage Roles, and View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links in the channel where the panel goes (Add Reactions, Read Message History and Manage Messages too for the reactions style).

Steps, options and example

Reina posts the panel as buttons, a dropdown or reactions, in the channel you choose (your roles channel to start). Reina shows what it will make and post first, and changes nothing until you press Confirm. /design undo takes the panel back for 7 days. A panel takes no backup: it posts one message, and any role it makes has no powers. Free for every server.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Roles members pick for themselves (colors, pronouns, pings) as buttons, a dropdown or reactions

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick roles from the list, then press Enter. Only you see the message that opens, and only you can press its buttons.
  2. Step 1, Which roles: pick a group from your design (Colors, Pronouns, Pings or another the design has) or Roles I already have, and the channel where the panel goes. To change a panel Reina made earlier, pick it under Edit or remove a panel I made. Press Next.
  3. Step 2, How it works: pick the style (Buttons, Dropdown or Reactions), what a press does (Pick any, Pick one, Up to 2, 3 or 5, Add only, Remove only), how long members keep the role, and, if you want, the role a member needs to use the panel. Edit names and emoji changes the title and each role's name and emoji (a standard emoji, or one of this server's own custom emoji). The first choices fit most servers: press Next to keep them.
  4. Step 3, Check and confirm: read what Reina will make, where the panel goes and which roles were left out and why. Press Confirm within 14 minutes. Reina makes any missing roles with no powers and posts the panel.
  5. Try it: press a button on the panel. Reina answers privately and the role is on you. Press it again to take it off.

Example: /design roles

Good to know

  • Free for every server: every style, every mode, timed roles and many panels. One panel offers up to 25 roles as buttons, 125 as a dropdown or 20 as reactions, and a server can have up to 100 panels. Discord allows 250 roles in a server in all. If you pass a limit, Reina says so and nothing is posted: pick another style or split the roles over two panels.
  • One run makes one panel: one group from your design, or up to 25 roles you already have. For the next group, run /design roles again. The ready-made groups come from your last /design pick; without one, Reina says to run /design pick first, and you can still pick roles you already have.
  • The roles Reina makes for a group have no powers. A role is judged only by what it gives beyond what @everyone already has (in the server, and in each channel). Roles that give a moderation permission (Administrator, any Manage permission, Kick, Ban, Timeout, Move, Mute or Deafen Members, Mention @everyone, View Audit Log or Bypass Slowmode), moderator roles, the Quarantine role, roles that belong to a bot, @everyone and roles above Reina's own are never offered, and step 3 says why each one was left out, naming the exact permissions and how to turn them off. A role that gives smaller extras (Create Expressions, Create Events, Pin Messages, Priority Speaker, View Server Insights, View Creator Monetization Analytics or Use External Apps) is offered with a heads-up on step 3 and in the reply. A role with the same name as one of the design's that Reina may not hand out is left out, never made a second time. Reina checks the live role again at every press, so a role that gains a moderation permission later is refused with the next step, and the permission watch names it in your alert channel.
  • Reina Bot asks for the narrowest permission: Manage Roles, and Add Reactions and Manage Messages in the panel's channel only for the reactions style (Reina takes a refused or replaced reaction off). The invite link's permissions do not change. When something is missing, Reina says what and how to fix it: Server Settings > Roles > Reina for Manage Roles, or Edit Channel > Permissions > Reina for the channel permissions. If you would rather not give it, set the roles by hand: right-click the member > Roles.
  • In the roles channel a design makes, members cannot post, but they can still press the buttons, use the dropdown and add reactions there, so the panel works. If you made the channel yourself, check that members can read it and add reactions: Edit Channel > Permissions > @everyone.
  • Members can always take their own pick off, even on a panel that is only for members with a role, except on an Add only panel: it never takes a role back, and Reina's reply tells the member where to do it (a Remove only panel for the same roles, or a moderator). Pick one panels add a None choice. Reina never takes the Quarantine role or a moderator role off through a panel or a time limit. If the role a panel is only for is deleted, editing the panel takes that limit off, and Reina says so.
  • Reina keeps no list of who picked what and never sends a member a direct message. It stores only the panel, its channel and message, and the role ids. Discord itself shows who has a role, and Reina's server backups copy every member's roles as they are (not who pressed what). A role with a time limit also stores your user id, the role id and when it ends, until it ends, you leave the server, a moderator uses /security forget on you, or you use /privacy. If you leave while Reina is offline, the row stays until the time would have ended.
  • Rename the roles or the panel's channel any time: Reina keeps track by id. If someone deletes the panel message by hand, Reina forgets that panel. If the message was deleted while Reina was offline, it still shows under Edit or remove a panel I made, and Confirm posts it again.
  • /design undo takes back the roles Reina made (a role someone holds is kept) and the panel message, or puts a removed panel back. If Reina says the pick-your-own roles part did not start, tell the people who run Reina Bot with /feedback: security is not affected.
  • If the message says this part of Reina Bot is not open in your server yet, it is still being tested in a few servers: ask for it with /feedback.

Your server's text

Change the wording of the posts Reina pins for your server: the guide channels, the gate question post, the rules and the trap channel warning.

Apps > Edit this text

Changes the text of one of Reina's pinned server posts to your own wording: the guide channel posts (#report-scams, #if-you-were-scammed, #new-here), the gate question post in #verify, the rules post and the trap channel warning.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Reina needs View Channel and Send Messages in that channel.

Steps, options and example

Reina edits its post and keeps your wording, so /security reports, /security verify, /security trap, /setup, /design preset and /backup restore use it from then on instead of Reina's.

Message menu, in a server.

How to

  1. Right-click Reina's pinned post (press and hold on mobile).
  2. Pick Apps, then Edit this text. A box opens with the post's current text.
  3. Type your wording (up to 2000 characters) and press Submit. Reina changes the post and says so. Only you see the reply.
  4. Changed your mind? Press Use the default text under the reply within 5 minutes. Later, open the box again, empty it and press Submit.

Example: Right-click the pinned post in #report-scams > Apps > Edit this text

Good to know

  • Type the new wording yourself. Asking Reina to rewrite it for you is not available yet.
  • The trap channel warning always starts with the bold line DO NOT POST IN THIS CHANNEL. Anyone who posts there is held, so if your text leaves that line out, Reina puts it back at the top and says so.
  • The gate post always shows the gate question. Your wording keeps the question in the same place when you change it with /security verify; if your text leaves the question out, Reina adds it at the end and says so.
  • Only Reina's pinned server posts can be changed. Alerts and Reina's replies are records and stay as they are, and Reina refuses anyone else's post, saying what it can change.
  • Channel topics you change yourself: Edit Channel > Overview > Channel Topic.
  • If you changed the rules post, /design undo leaves it in place.

Undo

Every design change can be taken back for 7 days.

Read first: What undo takes back

What undo takes back

Reina keeps design changes for 7 days, up to 10, newest first (pick-your-own panel changes from /design roles are kept apart, up to 10 more, so they never push a design change out). /design undo takes back the newest, and running it again takes back the one before. The security part of /setup is not here: /security undo takes that back, and /security undo everything:True also deletes the channels it made.

Undo also puts back the theme and preset the server had before that change, so new names follow the old style again. While a /setup Build is running, /design undo waits: run it again in a minute. Confirm takes back only what the preview listed.

  • Channels, categories and roles that the design made and nobody has touched since: deleted. The preview lists each one first. Discord cannot bring a deleted channel or role back, and a deleted channel takes its messages with it.
  • Kept, not deleted: a channel that was renamed, has a message from anyone but Reina, or holds a post whose wording you set with Apps > Edit this text (the default text does not count); a role that was renamed or that anyone has; a channel or role that has become one of Reina's security channels or a moderator role since; and a category that still holds a channel that is kept. The preview and the result list them, and they are dropped from the design change, so a later /design undo never deletes them. To remove one anyway, delete it by hand: right-click a channel > Delete Channel, or Server Settings > Roles.
  • Names and role colors that a theme or a check changed: put back, but only if nobody has changed them since. A name or color you changed yourself is left alone, and Reina says how many.
  • The rules post that Reina pinned in a channel that already existed: deleted.
  • The welcome screen: set back to what it was, unless someone changed its text since.

/design undo

Takes back the newest design change from /setup, /design preset, /design theme, /design pick, /design plain, /design banner, /design roles or /design check, for up to 7 days after it was made.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission. Taking back a change that made channels or roles also needs Manage Channels and Manage Roles, for you and for Reina. Taking back Replace my channels from /design pick is for the server owner only, like Replace itself.

Steps, options and example

Reina first lists what it will delete and how many names, colors, posts or welcome screens it will put back, then waits for your Confirm. A red Confirm button means it deletes channels or roles.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Take back the newest design change (within 7 days)

How to

  1. In any channel type /design and pick undo from the list.
  2. Read the preview. It lists what it deletes, what it keeps because it was renamed or is in use, and how many names, colors, posts or welcome screens it puts back. Discord cannot bring a deleted channel or role back.
  3. Press Confirm within 5 minutes. Only you can press it.
  4. Reina says how many it took back. For the change before that one, type /design undo again.

Example: /design undo

Good to know

  • Reina keeps up to 10 design changes, for 7 days each. If nothing is left, it says so.
  • The security part of /setup is taken back by /security undo, not here.
  • A name or color you changed yourself since is left alone, and Reina says how many. A channel or role a design made is kept, not deleted, if it was renamed; a channel is also kept if anyone but Reina posted in it, a role if anyone has it, and a category if it still holds a kept channel. Kept ones are listed in the preview and the result, and dropped from the design change.
  • After Replace my channels in /design pick, the preview also says it makes again the channels the design deleted, with their names, topics, places and permissions. They come back empty: their messages are gone for good.
  • After /design banner, undo puts the banner from before back, or takes the banner off when there was none. If someone changed the banner since, Reina leaves it alone and says how to change it by hand: Server Settings > Overview > Server Banner Background.
  • After /design roles, undo takes a panel it posted down, puts back a panel you removed or changes, and deletes the roles it made unless someone has them (those are kept). A panel message that is already gone is fine: Reina carries on.
  • Kept too: a channel or role that has become one of Reina's security channels or a moderator role since, and a channel holding a post whose wording you set with Apps > Edit this text (the default text does not count).
  • Undo also puts back the theme and preset the server had before that change.
  • If part of an undo fails, that part stays as the newest change, so /design undo can try it again. If it fails a second time, Reina stops trying, leaves it as it is and says how to fix it by hand: for the welcome screen, turn Community back on at Server Settings > Enable Community; for a role, drag Reina's role above it at Server Settings > Roles.
  • While a /setup Build is running, /design undo says so: run it again in a minute. Confirm takes back only what the preview listed.

Server tools

Backups are for server owners and anyone with Manage Server: Discord only shows /backup to members who have the Manage Server permission, and every command checks its own permission when it runs. Reports, vouching, privacy and feedback are for everyone in a server, moderators too.

Backups

Reina backs up your server on its own. Make one yourself before a big change, and put back what someone deleted.

Read first: How backups work

How backups work

Every 6 hours Reina backs up each server: name, icon, banner, roles, channels with their permissions, emojis, stickers, and which member had which role (ids only). Backups cannot hold messages, so deleted messages cannot come back.

Reina keeps three lists apart, so one can never push out another:

  • Automatic: the newest 4, which is about a day. Each new one replaces the oldest.
  • Made by a moderator with /backup now: the newest 3.
  • Made by Reina right before it changes something (a /setup build, every /design change, /security remove when it deletes, and right after a restore): the newest 3, each deleted after 7 days.

/backup now

Makes a backup now of channels, roles, emojis, stickers, the icon, the banner and who has which role. Reina also backs up every 6 hours by itself.

Who can use it: Members with the Manage Server permission.

Steps, options and example

You can make one by hand at most once every 10 minutes, and Reina keeps your newest 3 apart from its own, so nothing Reina does ever pushes them out.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Back up channels, roles, emojis, stickers and who has which role now (Reina does it every 6 hours)

How to

  1. In any channel type /backup and pick now, then press Enter.
  2. Reina says what it saved and how many backups made with /backup now it keeps.

Example: /backup now

Good to know

  • No automatic backup is taken during a lockdown.

/backup restore

Lists the kept backups, compares the one you pick with the server now, and shows what it would put back.

Who can use it: Members with Manage Server, Manage Channels and Manage Roles.

Steps, options and example

On Confirm it makes deleted roles, channels (with their permissions), emojis and stickers again, puts channels back in their category, and gives members back roles that were deleted. It never deletes anything. Messages cannot come back.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Put back deleted channels, roles, emojis and member roles from a backup; nothing is ever deleted

How to

  1. In any channel type /backup and pick restore, then press Enter.
  2. Pick a backup from one of the three lists (automatic, made by a moderator, or made by Reina right before a change) and read the preview.
  3. Press Confirm. Only you can press it.
  4. Afterwards drag the Reina role back above your moderator roles if the order changed: Server Settings > Roles.

Example: /backup restore

Good to know

  • It never hands back moderator powers on its own: roles it makes again come without Manage permissions, Administrator, Ban, Kick and Timeout, and a line lists what you may want to turn on by hand.
  • Running it twice makes nothing twice.

Reports

Three ways to tell the moderators about a scammer or spammer. All are private: nothing is posted in a channel.

Read first: What you should know first

What you should know first

Reporting posts nothing in any channel. Your report and any screenshot go privately to the moderators, and only you see Reina's reply.

You can send 5 reports a day per server. You cannot report yourself, a bot or a moderator, and members who are in quarantine cannot report.

/report

Reports a scammer or spammer to the moderators, privately. Name the person, or paste a link to their message, or both.

Who can use it: Any member who is not in quarantine, up to 5 reports a day per server. You cannot report yourself, a bot or a moderator.

Steps, options and example

You can attach a screenshot, for example of a scam DM they sent you.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Report a scammer or spammer to the moderators, privately

OptionWhat it isRequired
userWho you are reporting (or leave empty and paste a message link)No
message_linkA link to their message: right-click it (long-press on mobile), Copy Message Link
1 to 300 characters.
No
screenshotA screenshot, for example of a scam DM they sent youNo

How to

  1. In any channel of the server type /report and press Enter.
  2. In user pick the member. Or paste a link to their message in message_link: right-click the message (press and hold on mobile) > Copy Message Link.
  3. Optional: in screenshot attach a picture.
  4. Press Enter. Only you see Reina's reply.

Example: /report user:@Scammer

Apps > Report to Reina

Reports a message and the person who wrote it, with the message as evidence. Fastest on a computer or on mobile.

Who can use it: Any member who is not in quarantine, up to 5 reports a day per server.

Steps, options and example

Message menu, in a server.

How to

  1. Right-click the message (press and hold on mobile).
  2. Pick Apps, then Report to Reina.
  3. Only you see Reina's reply.

Example: Right-click a message > Apps > Report to Reina

Forward a DM

Reports a scam message someone sent you privately. Forward it to Reina in a direct message, then tell Reina which server it is about and who sent it.

Who can use it: Any member of a server that has Reina. No developer mode needed.

Steps, options and example

How to, in a direct message with Reina.

How to

  1. In the direct message, hover the scam message (press and hold on mobile) > Forward.
  2. Pick Reina and send it.
  3. If you share several servers with Reina, pick the server. Reina then asks who sent it.
  4. Press Who sent it?, type their username or display name, and pick them from the matches.
  5. Reina confirms in the same chat. Nothing is posted anywhere public.

Example: Hover the message in the DM > Forward > Reina

Good to know

  • If Reina cannot find the sender, use /report in the server instead.

Vouching

Tell the moderators you know a newcomer, so their first links and files are not held.

/vouch

Vouch for a newcomer you know: their first links and files are no longer held for review. Nothing else about them changes.

Who can use it: Staff, or a trusted member who has sent 20 real messages. Not while you are in quarantine. Up to 3 vouches a day.

Steps, options and example

The moderators are told, with your name on the alert.

Slash command, in a server. Discord shows it as: Vouch for a newcomer you trust, so their first links and files are not held for review

OptionWhat it isRequired
memberThe newcomer you are vouching forYes

How to

  1. In any channel of the server type /vouch and press Enter.
  2. In member pick the newcomer, then press Enter.

Example: /vouch member:@MyFriend

Good to know

  • A vouch stops counting if you are later kicked, banned, held or contained.
  • Members cannot see /security, so this command is top level.

Privacy and feedback

See and delete what Reina keeps about you, or send a note to the people who run Reina Bot.

/privacy

Shows what Reina keeps about you in each server, as counts, in plain words, plus any shared ban notes and blacklist entries about you.

Who can use it: Anyone, in a server or in a direct message with Reina.

Steps, options and example

With delete set to True it deletes all of it, in every server, right away and says how many records it removed. Only you see the reply.

Slash command, in a server or in a direct message with Reina. Discord shows it as: See what Reina keeps about you across servers, and delete it

OptionWhat it isRequired
deleteTrue: delete it nowNo

How to

  1. In any server where Reina is, or in a direct message with Reina (click Reina's name > Message), type /privacy and press Enter.
  2. Read the list. Each server shows the join records, log lines, report records and so on that Reina keeps about you there. Nothing is shown if Reina keeps nothing.
  3. To delete, type /privacy again, set delete to True, and press Enter.

Example: /privacy delete:True

Good to know

  • Deleting never undoes a ban, a kick or a role. Roles Reina took can only be given back by hand by that server's moderators: Server Settings > Members. To appeal a ban, ask that server's moderators.
  • If you are in quarantine when you delete, the Quarantine role stays on you until a moderator presses Approve. Reina tells you which servers, and the moderators there get one alert saying you asked to delete your records, and they decide.
  • Buttons you pressed as a moderator stay in the log without your name, so those decisions still count.
  • If you were on a server's anti-nuke trusted list, you are taken off it and that server is told.
  • You can delete once a minute.

/feedback

Opens a small box where you type a note for the people who run Reina Bot: what works, what does not, what you wish it did.

Who can use it: Anyone, in a server or in a direct message with Reina. Up to 3 a day.

Steps, options and example

It arrives as a private message to the bot's owner, with your name, your user id and the server's name and id (or a note that it came from a direct message). Nothing is saved in Reina's database.

Slash command, in a server or in a direct message with Reina. Discord shows it as: Send a note to the people who run Reina Bot (not to this server's moderators)

How to

  1. In any server where Reina is, or in a direct message with Reina, type /feedback and press Enter.
  2. Type your note in the box (up to 1000 characters) and press Submit.
  3. Reina thanks you in the same chat. If it could not deliver the note, it says so and tells you to try again in a few minutes.

Example: /feedback

Good to know

  • This does not go to your server's moderators. If your note is about this server's moderation, message a moderator instead.
  • An empty note is not sent. After 3 notes in a day Reina tells you when you can send the next one.
